My sister is working as a cashier in department store.
Once I asked her how's her work,
She answered yes but,
There were many times she's deducted of over cash count.
The money is higher in few monies or cents than the actual total sales.
Much more when there is shortage of cash than sales account.
This clearly means that sometimes the change we receive is not correct.
Did you experience same with case?

It depends on the amount of change that I am receiving to be honest. If it is only pennies I would usually not bother at all but if there are a number of notes involved I always would. I used to work in a fast food restaurant and there were always descrepancies at the end of the day so obviously some people do not get the correct change all the time.

But if you think about it if people are careful and take their time then there should not be. I think people are just too busy nowadays to really take their time and check these things.

Yes I count it if I pay in cash but I usually use my debit card. It happened only recently that I paid for my groceries with a 20 euro bill and the cashier gave me the change as though I had paid with a 50 euros. I saw the mistake immediately and told her and she thanked me. At the end of the day it would have been her that would have had to add the difference to her till and it would have been cheating on my part not to say something.
I believe in karma too

Hi there, yes i always count my change before leaving the counter. Even its just small amount i have time counting it. Its proper to count while you are still in the counter so its not hard to get the money if the change was not correct. It happened to me one time that my change was higher than what i expected so i give it back to the cashier i dont want her to be the one to pay for it, so i give it back. Keep on mylotting

I do experience once in a while that I am short of my change. Sometimes, if we are in a hurry to go somewhere else and to do something else we do not even bother to count our change. But the time we reached our house, that is the only time that we realized that we our short of our change.

I count my change every time before I leave the cashier. I am very careful when come to the money :)
It is better we count the change before we left, so that any mistake involve then we can tell the cashier on the spot. Once you left and came back to tell them the money was given wrongly, no one can believe you, and no proof to show to them.

yes! it is wise to count your change before you head home. you can never know if they gave you a lesser amount. not to say that it was intentional by them but maybe they just miscounted. so in my case, i never put the money in my pocket unless i am sure they gave me the right amount. it's better to be safe than sorry.

Yeah, you could not know if you do not count after the cashier give you the change. Its okay because as i have said, i am not lack of change even i do not count it. I go to the same grocery every time i purchase though cashier change every six months there, the change is not affected and all are the same.

Normally I will count the change before leaving the counter.
There's certain time I will forget to do so. In that case, I will count even after walk away from the counter. WIll immediately ask the person if found wrong.

I count my change, most stores will let you be short or over a certain amount of money, due to human error, when the difference is too big, then the problems start.
It is best to count the money the best one can, both the cashier and the customer, it is safer that way. One time my daughter hand a five dollar bill and was almost given the change for a fifty, she was nice enough to let them know, I am proud of her.

I do not actually count, but I gave a rough glance at the changes. What I do care is whether I received a fake note.

you know if had meals with friends/colleagues, then count the charge after pay the bill -- it feels not good, and friends might think that you are so care about the tiny charge...
well, but don't get me wrong, if usually don't peek the changes also if shopping alone... maybe I just believe the merchants are genuine..
but I really expect to receive more change then exptected... Hahahah...

No, no I don't. And I know I should especially because people assume that due to my mobility impairment I'm a little dim in the math area so they can cheat me. This is not true, and I've gotten a bunch of free merchandise and several apologies from store managers because of it.

small change / coins - nope i dont really check 100%.
but notes - yes, i count them right in front of the cashier...
not to say that the cashiers are not trustworthy, but sometimes during peak hours or when they are tired - mistakes do happen..
so, i dont mind if the person behind me is mad at me for holding up the queue, but i'd rather confirm i got my correct change right there, than come up to bother the cashier later..

For me it depends on how much change I am getting back. Usually I end up using my debit card, so no change is necessary. But, when I do use cash, it very easy for me to quickly count the bills that I get back and glance over the coins that I have. If my change is more that twenty five cents off I'll probably notice, but anything less than that, it doesn't really matter to me.
I work on campus at the college that I am attending and every time I take my cashier drawer to the back and count it I've always come out even. It's not super hard to count out the correct change, but I feel maybe it happens to people when they feel rushed or flustered.
