Today i was to donate blood for somebody who really need, for my mother who is really very sick. And i can t help she; they say that my vens are not good, i mean my blood don t have pression, to donate. My blood is very good, i am healthy, but i stay almost 30 min and hurt my hand a lot, and they can tahe just 0.100 ml blood. Who know what this happened? they say that i am not sick, i were really scared.

Maybe veins on some area of your body are too small making less constrictions to let blood flow. Did the phlebotomist tried other areas? Usually they get blood from arms or wrists but in some unusual way some phlebotomist can draw blood from other parts like the neck (although risky) or the nape or any other part which are good to draw blood. Or maybe your were just too nervous or afraid or possibly stressed out. Try to take a full rest and re-try. I'm sure they will find ways to draw blood if they say you are healthy and well off to be a blood donor. :-)

Just try to rest and think of your mom who need your blood to loose off those unwanted nervousness. Be brave and if you want close your eyes during the needle insertion and just think that you will be doing such for your beloved mother.

Hello friend, so sad to hear about this. Sometimes it happens that there is some minor defect in medical terms in one's blood and the doctors don't want to risk using it, as it can develop into something more serious.I can't tell you the exact cause as there can be hundreds of them but I hope everything is well soon at your end. Cheers!

I have been told that I have small veins and they can be hard to find. In donating blood they always use the same vein, because it works. As someone already said, you need to drink plenty of water. The Red Cross always reminds me the day before to drink plenty of water before I donate. It is a good pratice to drink lots of water all the time anyway. Perhaps you can try again. Good Luck!

Are you drinking enough water. I heard that if your not drinking enough water that could cause your veins to kind of shrink up. I have had this problem before. The smaller you are the harder it is for them to find a good vein.

Always take a second opinion from other doctors. Ask them how to get over this problem. Hope they will find a solution for you. Best of luck and may God help your mother to recover fast. Take care of your mother and yourself. May God bles you. meapas.

It sounds a little similar to a problem I had once. I went to donate blood, but shortly after they started my vein collapsed. A least that's the term they used. When I said that I'd try the other arm the person wasn't able to find a vein to use. That part kind of hurt because she was searching for a vein with the needle. My mother tends to have the same problem. It can be that maybe, like your doctor said, that the vein is too small, but it could be that they aren't close enough to the surface of your skin to be able to see. I know there are ways to make them easier to see, but I forget how. Maybe they could try drawing blood from a different location? I don't know if that's possible, but it might be something to check into.
