Are you a doodler? Has it helped you in any way?

Right from my childhood I have been a doodler, scribbling and sketching whatever inside me, sometimes intentionally and sometimes instinctively. Me, my pencil and my solitiude have been testimony to many art pieces, some of which are real weird. They are lost art but helped me survive some dead moments in life.
What about you? Do you draw doodles?

Hi Dear!
How are you doing? Yes I can say that I am a doodler too. Whenever I am free and unfortunately, I've nothig else to do or I am sitting idle with a pen and paper, I start scribbling or drawing some sketches/figures. I love to draw flowers or bunches of flowers. It is said that whatever we scribble or draw has some meaning. Every figure we draw shows our hidden emotions in the form of a scatch. Constructing some geomatarical figure like drawing a circle, triange or square has some singnificant meanings. Sketching someone's face, who is sitting in front of you, shows artistic quality in one' hand. Our thoughts, imaginations and tensions also get reflected in our scribbling.
Have a great day!

That makes two of us deepak. I think we just let go what's inside sub consciously. We just be ourselves and people would like to take it as art.

Hmm I think Im mostly a tracer rather than a doodler. I mean I would write something down then Id trace or rewrite that word or phrase, adding shadows to it, embossing it, underlining, etc.^_^ I would also just write squiggly lines or something. I dont recall ever having lots of squiggly lines or phrases arranged in such a way that at least abstract art came out of it though.LOL
Its really nice that you found a very creative outlet to let go of your emotions that way. Take care always.

Whatever squiggles you mention here are my way of doodling as well. I have always been doing something with my fingers and a pencil just helps to go an extra mile. . Tracing is fine, it just as good. So, carry on.

You're very right about that.^_^ Sometimes though, I dont trace on paper. Im admitting that I 'retrace' those vandalisms on the desk that Im sitting on. There are lots of them on all the old desk chairs. Some show a very good cartoon or a really detailed anime drawings. Most of them are words though and when Im drifting off, I just tend to go over the etched lines with my pencil or my pen.

I doodle seldomly. And the times that i do it's more of a scribble that it would not even fall in the most abstract froms of art.
Why don't you upload one of your doodled images, Mimpi ? It would be great to see them. I can usnderstand doodling as ways of speaking to yourself, but it also helps in making you seeing things differently and helps in raising your creatvity. I have always thought that it's a good way to express yourself. And the best thing it's a free form of expression, one that does not require you to finish it.

Mine are no art either. I just doodle, just for the sake of it. I scribble different geometric forms, orange tip letters, eyes, profiles and sometimes landscape. So you better not shy off..

I used to doodle in school a lot. Once I did a pretty decent portrait of my 8th grade math teacher. But I don't really doodle any more. Once in a while for my kids, but other than that, no.

Dawn doodles...
Seriously, I think you were good at it. I am much into this. May be my doodling moments come out of solitude.

I doodle all the time! I have'nt been doing actual drawings lately. And I personally call them as "small ideas". I doodle a lot in class it's more fun that way, helps increase with the thinking sometimes~
I did a few horrid doodles not intented for kids or the public though it's fun to laugh at or that it's disturbing.

Good to know that! Sometimes doodles rise above just a time pass.

Hi mimipi, Yes sometimes specially if I have nothing to do, like when I'm talking to someone on the phone and I have my pencil and paper with me. Sometimes if I'm also bored and thinking.

Although sometimes when I am not in the mood to draw, my earnest efforts might look like doodles, I don't doodle on purpose. Say that almost sounds like a contardiction of terms. Well, I just never could see the sense in doodling. But don't let me stop you! I doodle with words, I guees, by jotting down snippets of poetry that goes nowhere from time to time.

That's indeed would be contradictory. However my 'intentional' doodling arises out of solitude and I have found it is a great way to let go.

Hey mimpi! Does that mean that you are sort of an artist in
the making? I have never been a doodler or a scribbler! I
guess I sort of wish I were! I am supposed to be artist
according to my "sign" "Libra"! But, nope! I am not in the
least bit! I used to write poetry and do like to do a bit of
crafts and that kind of stuff! But, when it comes to pictures
and doodles I am just not interested! Maybe you should show
us some of your work! You might have some hidden talent there
waiting to get out!

Hahaha..I am no where near. I just love doing it - a whim may be. I have always loved it. And dear, we have seen glimpse of an artist in you when you shared your new house decor. It's beautiful!

You could say that I am a bit of a ‘doodler’! I usually do it while I am on the phone. I can be very surprised by my ‘doodles’. The other I drew a television set, a vase and some flowers and the strange thing was that I didn’t intend or realise what I was doing until I got off the phone and looked at my notebook! Weird ha?

Hi mimpi, when I worked in an office back in the UK I would doodle constantly whilst on the phone. Always squares though, with more squares inside. They certainly had no artistic merit at all, the only thing I actually know how to draw is a cartoon character. If you copy it upside down you can make a perfect likeness.

Hahaha..I known what you mean Thea. Geometry never fascinates me except when I am doodling. I have doodled some odd numbers of geometric figures.

I'm a doodler!! However, after doodling - i don't really see "art" in it so I just toss it in a pile of random papers. I doodle a lot when I'm bored or when I'm thinking too much and my mind cant make up it's mind! Hahahahaha - does that make any sense?
Anyway - I tend to think that I'm no artist. However, I've seen some pretty creative "doodles" and think to myself, how come I can't come up with something like that?
Well, I hope you post some pics or something for use to enjoy some of your doodle arts! =D

Being an artist, I tend to doodle a heck of a lot! If I am bored and want something to do, I will usually grab and bit of paper around, a pencil or pen, and start doodling. Even if it's on an add or the tiniest bit of paper available. I tend to draw some manga like images or simple things life treble clefs or hearts and boxes. I have a tendancy to draw eyes for the most part.
It both delights and bugs my sister. Whenever she is looking for paper to collect for recylcling she will find one of my doodles. She doesn't have the heart to throw it out so that means she has to keep it.

I can completely relate to your sister. It gets difficult for the people who love us to let go of whatever blabbers we doodle. For them they are precious. I can throw away my stuffs but not my love ones!

I have drawn my way through so many classes. I think it actually helps me concentrate. Taking notes has never helped me learn but if I can pay attention and listen I will the remember the info every time.

I tend to draw them when I am bored in class or sometimes just bored in general. I've never been a good artist and wish I was better. I think if I was better that I would probably doodle more than I do. I usually doodle my name in bubble letters or flowers and smiley faces when I doodle. What kinds of things do you doodle?

That's actually great! Bubble names, orange tips letters and flowers are so lovely! I am no artist myself, doodlers hardly are but I find solace in the most weird of arts in the form of nature or flower or some profile sketch randomly. They are just letting go of thoughts and talking to myself.
