for what reason? what happened?
well i called 911 like on a accident about 2 years ago. me and my moms friend was joking around and she said if i would die she would eventually call 911 after judge judy was over. and i was like you know at least i would call 911 right away but since you said eventually now if you die i'm gonna dial it the slow ( i picked up the phone and pushed the numbers!!!) and then we laughed and i hung it up not realizing if i dialed it that slow and hang up that it would still work. and then the next thing i know 10 minutes later the cops were at my door! wow and then i was like opps. and the a year ago my little sister dialed the policed like 2 times. she learned about the police at school so when ever she would see a phone she would run to it and dial. bad girl i know so tell me your story.

i have called it twice i think.. once when i was younger and it was by accident kind of.. i had been watching t.v and they were talking about it and i picked up the phone and called and then they called back and my dad answered it. i got in trouble lol the other time was because a bed frame had fallen on my moms head. she doing something and trying to hold it up at the same time i guess.. me and my brothers were in the living room and then we heard this loud bang... went running and saw her sitting on the floor holding her head. she was okay just hurt a whole bunch.

Hi! Yes, have called 911. It was last winter, and it was really sad what happened. I called because my son saw a prowler around my home. When the operator finally answered for 911, it was for a totally different county than where i live. So she had to transfer me to the county 911 office where i live. I explained to the operator that there was a man who was actually trying to get into my home, and prowling around my home, she told me that she would be able to get a deputy to my home in about an hour and a half. Guess what, to this day i have not seen the deputy that was supposed to come to my home. How is that for making someone feel safe?

I've called 911 - car accident. A terrible one at that! And the ambulance got there pretty fast, the cops however, took their sweet sweet time. I don't know if they got lost and they don't really know the City they're supposed to be serving, very well. *shrugs* Anyways, that was a while back - maybe 3 years ago. Haven't called 911 since. I've seen some accidents - and people yell out "CALL 911" - hurry!! And at my church, there are tons of older folks. So the church has called 911 a couple of times too. Like I said, the ambulance get there fast but those cops.... I don't know.

I called 911 once when my house had a fire, once for a car accident, and once I just went to the police station for an assault case. I think I've seen the police way too much for the last year for whatever reasons that I have. How did you guys eventually get your little sister to realize she's supposed to wait for an actual emergnancy to call 911?

The only time I ended up calling 911 was an accident. I was younger - probably seven or eight. Anyways, My mom was busy in the kitchen doing something and she wanted to talk to her friend on the phone. So, she hit the speed dial for her number, handed me the phone and then told me that when someone picked up I should ask for her friend. So the phone rang and the answer was "911 emergency." I was really confused, but I asked for my mom's friend anyways. Then the lady on the phone said something, and I gave the phone to my mom and told her I was confused. My mom talked to the lady and explained what had happened and everything was fine. Apparently someone thought it would be funny to change the speed dial to dial 911. Whoops!

I have called 911 many times (all legitimate). I have called to report dangerous driving, accidents, out of control relative and to report theft among others.
I do have a funny story though. I was a Program Manager in a group home for woman that were mentally disabled. One of the woman seems very smart because she has had a lot of socialization, is quick witted, uses phrases she hears usually in the correct context. However she can barely spell her name, has no concept of math, and is no where near the intelligence level people that don't know her think she is.
One night she was mad at me for some reason, just something silly that I can't recall. She decided she would call the police and tell them I was mean. She is quite difficult to understand if you don't know her. I was unaware of all this until there was a knock at the door. It was the police saying an old man called 911 from this address but they couldn't understand what he was saying. I said there are no men here, this is a group home for woman. They said well please step aside as we need to come in and investigate. All the ladies were sitting at the table listening. As the police were going upstairs, I notice my lady turning red and running after them. I asked her to come back to the table, she did and I said "did you call the police" she said proudly "Yup".
At that moment they came downstairs, not finding the none existent man. I said you may want to speak to Miss H.M. She told them she called but she was only kidding, that I was her girlfriend and she was joking... ya right. It was quite funny but I didn't let her know that...
Blessed be,
Mari

My son was just learning about using 911 and he called it one day, I got a call from the police asking if everything was ok. I told them, yes, why? they said someone from my house had called. I said only me and my son were there, he probably got ahold of the phone and dialed it.
a few minutes after the call, police were at my door.
Another time I had to actually call it for a lady that got in an accident, I was the first one there, I used my cell phone and didn't even have to tell them where I was, 911 already had my number and location.

Yes I've called 911 several times. Mostly because of accidents. The last time I called was about two years ago. I was going to Subway a couple blocks from my house when I saw a man lying on the sidewalk with spots of blood on him. He seemed like he was dunk. I called 911 and told them about it then continued to Subway.
I don't know how long I was in Subway but when I walked back home he was still lying there. I walked slow and kept looking back to see if the police had got there but they didn't. It seemed like they didn't take it seriously and probably thought he was dunk so they weren't in a real hurry to get there.

Well I've had both experiences with 911. I have had to legitamately call them and that was no fun at all.
On a lighter note my oldest son was almost 4 when he decided to call them and tell them that our satellite TV was off and he needed a fire truck.
Yeah that was one of those embarrasing moments of my life. Thanks God the lady asked to speak to an adult and he brought me the phone and told me to give them directions. I said "give who directions?" then proceeded to say "hello" and the lady told me what he had said.
She was very nice about it but I was flabergasted....I never dreamed he would have called 911.
Kids....gotta love em' LOL

I have called police in emergency before but not in United Sates. I had an emergency at home, my dad fell down and hit his head, my mom, sister and I were at home, we were freaked out because dad acted weird and didn't know what he was doing, so mom firmly told me to call the police, I was really scared and tried hard to tell the police what's going on and where we were... then they arrived after a while.
