Diego Maradona Vs Pele.. who really was the greatest?

Maradona is considered a GOD, yes you read correctly a GOD in Argentina. Just because he was a good player and won them a World Cup. Pele Won Brasil many more cups, so if you were to use that as a measure, then Edson Arantes Do Nacimento (Pele) was a better player. Pele did not play in a time when soccer matches were transmitted internationally and people did not see other leagues as they started doing when Maradona played in Napoli. Yes they were both great, and yes both of them changed the game forever, but since they did not play at the same time, you can't really compare them because it would not be fair.

It is not even close.Pele,much better than Maradonna in every single fundament of the game.You cannot even compare.Check Pele's career and Maradona's.By the time Pele was 21 he had already accomplished much more than Maradona did in his whole career.Maradona is the most overrated player in the history of the game.

Hi jellymonty, It is almost impossible to compare 2 player from different generation. But if we have to compare them then I choose Pele. For me, Pele had a clean record from any controversy. Like you said that Maradona goal from hand of goad is the best ever but that is also the greatest cheat I ever seen. For the player who have that such talent, he didn't need to cheat to win a game. But Maradona have a different idea on this. Win every games even if you have to cheat. And this philosophy seem to me have a great follower in this game. Happy mylotting and have a nice day.

I think that if we speak about pure talent and football skill, not humanitarian qualities then you have to say that Maradona is the greatest. No doubt, Pele played in a time that there was not so many Great player, But I would say that Maradona won World Cups by his own boot.
