No, I don't believe in this prediction. It's not something that I want to believe in. I don't want to live worried about when life on earth is going to end, or when my life is going to end. I just don't want to live worried about those things. Personally, I don't think that any of us should live this way. But whatever people chose to believe in is their own choice.

Here's the thing: I used to fear it. It is highly coincidental that both the Mayan empire and Nostradamus (sp?) would predict the same day as being "it" or the day that the world will end. It used to scare me because the Mayans also predicted their own downfall and were correct, and of course Nostradamus was great at predicting things.
However, I'm also Christian. And I believe the Bible when it says that no one knows but God the Father Himself. So if no one knows but Him--and he surely isn't Mayan or Nostradamus--then I have come to terms in knowing that December 21 of 2012 cannot be the "end of the world." I think if any human-made prediction would be correct it would have been this one, but after much thought and research I just can't believe it.
I sleep a lot better at night now. :)

I don't believe it at all. I'm not going to worry about it until it actually ahpepns. When I am meant to die, I'll die. Why spend all my time living worrying about when the world is going to end? It'll happen when it happens, or as the old Tom Lehrer song goes "we'll all go together when we go." :)

The only reason people think the world will end in 2012 is because some calendar (mayan maybe?) ends in 2012. In reality we have no idea why they didn't extend the calendar beyond 2012. Maybe their civilization was wiped out before they got that far. People are too paranoid about it.

I don't believe that the world will end 2012... In Bible, there should be an "armagedon" before the very end of the world... But if it is true world will end 2012, then the prophecy in Bible are fakes/lies...

Well, I don't fully believe, but I don't discard the probability that something big could happen in 2012. It is not only the mayans who stopped their predictions in 2012, Nostradamus, greek prophets and other cultures stopped too.
Also scientists discovered that in 2012 there will be an astronomical (I'm not sure if that word exists, English is not my language sorry) event that involves planets aligning and solar storms. It is known that the earth, the solar system and other systems in the universe have certain time cycles for natural events to happen.
Anyway what we know about prophecies is the interpretation of texts and symbols from hundreds and thousands of years by subjective human beings (no one can be fully objective).
PD: first comment, I just joined...rate please :)

Hi imgrandma! I have heard about this but I don't think it's so. There have been predictions of the world ending on different dates for a very longtime. I can see how they would get the number because of the different religions relation to this number but I think that sometimes things are mistranslated and taken out of context. I am by no means an expert but I don't think that will be the end.

hi there, i don't believe that the world will end on 2012. yes some disasters or internationl confliction may push world to an end but it will not go to the whole world. it is a foretelling matter. predictions may be true but not all the time. but the situations of today's world is enough to make it true. lol

I don't think that i believe the end of the world will happen in 2012. There are many rumors going around of this idea and i think it's something that has been blown out of proportion. The mayans predicted a new beginning in 2012 but what they were predicting was a new cycle of the sun. Life is just going to continue being normal and we really have nothing to worry about. Western society has really taken the idea and taken it somewhere just to scare people.
I think it is a cool idea and i've seen the trailers for the movie 2012 and it looks really good. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie in the fall but i'm not going to take it seriously.

first, 1975, then 2000 and now 2012? when is this going to stop? if my hunch is correct, a lot of people who made this kind of prediction are earning a lots of money.God will decide when earth should end, we too can decide it to happen, look at global warming, pollution and shortage of food and water. isn't obvious we won't have to wait unless we do something.

I don't believe it, and I refuse to. The idea alone gives me the chills.
