Did you try cleaning the mouse? Sometimes dirt gets inside and sticks to the ball and it won't track properly.

It would not have spoiled but perhaps now that you have the new one you can experiment with the old one and keep it as a back up.

Hey, I honestly have no idea how people could use the computer before a mouse was invented. But I know one thing, before they invented the mouse, computers did not incorporate a GUI (Graphical User Interface) meaning that their was only a black screen with white writing, pretty boring! Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

Ack! I hate when that happened, and it sometimes did when I had a desktop computer. I discovered that the mouse usually only needed cleaning so I learned how to do that. Before the mouse, people had to operate the computer using keyboard commands only. Karen

I think technology is spoiling us. I do not know how to use the computer without a mouse too. I never pay attention when my lecturer was teaching me the functions keyword and all. We had it so easy that we never think twice to pay more attention to the little details that might come out handy someday!

Even though such kind of inconvenience which is caused without the mouse, ya even i felt such kind of inconvenience but as i knew the other keys it was a bit easy for me to operate till i purchased a new mouse. We can operate from the keyboard with various shortcut and other keys here are a few which i would like to mention Rename = press F2 Copy = press Ctrl C Paste = press ctrl V Cut = press ctrl X Undo = press ctrl Z task manager= ctrl+alt+del to operate icons on desktop= alt N then later select the file or folder which you want to open. Windows key+R opens the Run window

Now I am not able to do anything without the help of mouse and I may find difficult to shut down the system properly. But nearly 10 years back, I have worked without computers without the aid of mouse as only in those days, they started to occupy the computer table. I used to hate the people who were using the mouse and most of them, I met , only used to play games. We need to know lots of shortcut keys to work and of course, there were no such applications, software programs which need the help of mouse in those days. But now, if the mouse fails then the situation is becoming as like the entire CPU unit went .

I have solution that you can use your keyboard as a mouse just Press ALTER+SHIFT(LEFT SIDE)+ NUMLOCK button togather and through this you can use keyboard as a mouse. to disable it again press same button.

we cannot tell when some of our things would be faulted with stuffs that we always ends up being frustrated by it. so its also better to always look on our things and be extra careful on them as well. so i think you better let that one be seen by experts of computer stuffs my friend or even better, buy a new one. jhelai

hi yugasini, I have solution which will ease your work, you can operate the mouse cursor with NumLock on the keyword. Simply follow the following instruction go to control panel first, then in it go to Accessibility option, under it select mouse tab, there you will find a option of "use mousekeys" select it and you also set your setting under "setting" option like use mousekeys when NumLock key is on or off. Now you can operate with NumLock keys.
