So I was leaving work today. There was a sign up, "the guard is away, please take a chair". So I said to myself, "gee, which chair do I want to take?"
drumroll
So it reminded me of when I was about 5 and my dad asked me to pick up the living room and I told him it was too heavy.
And the time mom asked me to straighten my room up and I said it wasn't crooked.
And about how my grandfather used to say to my Dad, "alway cracking wise, huh?"
I guess it's genetic.
So is memory loss, apparently.
Did I do this discussion before?

When I was very young, like 5ish, I asked someone in mom's very full office if they wanted to hear a "polock" joke. (did I spell that right?) So mom's boss, whom I was so close to he would have walked me down the aisle at my wedding had he not been so sick and ended up dying 6 months later.... he says "Hey!! I am a polock" so I say to him "I'll tell it really slow"

Here is another one. If you wear a wristwatch, put it on the other wrist, sometimes.

Did you know that you can retrain your brain to make it easier to remember things? I have a book on it. Try some of these things:
writing with the hand that isn't dominant
doing things with your eyes closed
taking a different route to a familiar place
using smells when you are doing something pleasant (like smelling some vanilla when listening to your favorite music)
Listen to a totally different kind of music than you usually do
There were a bunch of things like that that cause you to use parts of your brain that you usually don't, which stimulates brain growth (yep at ANY age) and helps you with memory and cognitive function and so on.

I don't know if you've done this one before, but you ARE a smart aleck!
But that is the reason I love to read your stuff!
btw It's been forever since I heard that term 'smart aleck'. My family used it alot. Mostly to describe us kids. Thought we made it ups or something, does it come from our common German heritage?

One day in hifgh school wood shop class, one of the wise guys in metal shop went up to our teacher and asked for a B-A-H. The teacher asked "What is a B-A-H? He said that a B-A-H is a Big A** Hammer. The teacher asked him if he wanted a knuckle sandwich? His answer was: No, I'd rather have a grilled ham and cheese sandwich, please.

I most certainly am not! I'm nothing short of peaches and cream with the slightest dash of Angel breath and have never been a smart aleck in my life. I do often say to anyone looking through a newspaper, book or any other written material "Wow! I had no idea you could read!", but I don't consider that to be smart alecky at all because I'm always sincere when I say it.

I used to get a giggle out of...'just hop down to the garage and ask your father....', I'm just popping next door, back in a tick,' (how does one pop?), I won't be home as I'm running errands'
No wonder foreigners think out language is crazy.

That's just so cool ..
Have I answered this discussion before.. -scratches head- ..
I have smart aleck moments too which I'm sometimes proud and sometimes not.. ha..
I went on a blind date before and really thinking that this lady wearing black was my 'date' I approached her.. I was right... she told me she'd be wearing white. But I knew she wanted to check me out first Ha!!
I don't know how to put it, I can sense a blind date from afar, maybe the anxious look on the face or something..
