Changing majors

So I've been going through university as a psychology major and my grades are very high. I have a natural aptitude for it, the problem is I absolutely hate it. I cannot do that for a living every coop and practical experience I've had made me so depressed.
I am really passionate about language. I think I want to be an interpreter. Is that a crazy idea? I'd still get a masters and everything I just wouldn't practice psychology, maybe I would do research. I'm not sure what to do but I know I cannot handle a clinical setting.

Better to change your major now than to get done and be stuck in a job that you hate and not be able to change! My daughter changed her major about 4 or 5 times but she did it before she graduated, that's when you want to do it! And by all means do something you like!

Since those majors might actually have a lot of overlapping courses, you should check with an advisor to see what changing majors would entail for you.
I know I nearly changed majors at one point, but it was just too many classes.
And you might not even have to change your major, maybe just add a language minor? Or if you are already proficient in another language without training, it might work to just have any degree just to have one for getting a job.

I am a non-traditional student (I started when I was forty), and I refused to do the major that the entry advisor tried to sell me. He thought that because I had ten years of restaurant management experience that I should aim for business administration. I had to tell him No three times before he got the message that I was serious about never wanting to do management ever again.
I know that being a English major (with a history minor) is going to cause me no end of difficulties when it comes time to find a job if I ever have to consider management again. But honestly, I don't want to do that type of work.
I want to be a writer. That is how I decide whether or not to take a class. Note that I have taken quite a few non-writing and literature classes, hence my history minor. Including three economics classes (a fascinating subject, at least to me).
Honestly, if I was you, I would find out how hard it would be to change my major; life is too short to paint yourself into a corner with a career that you loathe.

I'm sure you'll be able to minor in linguistics right now and just finish with good grades as a psychology major. Later on go to grad school with what you truly desire. Don't feel like you're stuck NOW - right at this point in your life is when you need to make a decisions. Because if you absolutely hate it now - imagine doing it for the rest of your life?
I'm sure psychology is not just in clinical setting either. I know a lot of my psychology major friends are now student counselors. Of course they minored in development or education or something like that.
Good luck!
