There was a segment on one the shopping networks with Woodstock memorabilia. I just wondered-- Does anyone on mylot smile when you think of that? Any old hippies out there? I remember listening to the album when a friend got one. Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Butterfield Blues Band, Sly and the Family Stone, Arlo Guthrie, and so many others. Anyone have a favorite? Mine would be Jimi Hendrix and The Star Spangled Banner. Oh Wow! Anyone even know what I am talking about? Any thoughts on what you were doing the summer of 69 or just thoughts in general on this peaceful music festival? There was no violence during the entire 3 day event. Too bad we can't say that today.

I sure do know what your talking about. And Hendrix hits me too. Yes I am an old hippie that never turned yuppie. I was at the farm but didn't go down on. Now ask me why. Why you ask? Because I have a problem of having to be near a bathroom.LOL Sad isn't it but true. It was wonderful and I wish I could say I saw it all. I loved being that close thow, and there is somethingt to be said for the peace we pushed. Thanks for the memory.

I like Bread also. The program on the shopping network was fun because the actual producer of the festival was there and he told little tidbits and was so cool to hear about different parts of it.

Hey celtic! OLD HIPPIE HERE! I remember it well! I was too young to go, only 16! And my parents wouldn't let me go! Damn it! I had some friends that were going and I wanted to go with! I have that album and no record player and wish so much that I could listen to it again! I loved Jimi Hendrix playing the Star Spangled Banner! That was the best rendition ever! Could he play that guitar! And don't forget Carlos Santana! I loved Janis Joplin too singing Ball and Chain, Summertime.... And I was a big Arlo Guthrie fan too! Hell, I loved so many artists that were there! Remember Country Joe and the Fish "And it's one, two three what are we fightin' for, Don't ask me I don't give a damn, next stop is Viet Nam!" That was one of the best times in the history of music! It was all about peace and love! That was an incredible time to be alive, except for the Viet Nam War!

Just the fact that Jimi chose that song to play was too cool for me. The man could play. I think he was peaking with every performance. Sixteen. I think my mom would have let me go. She was so cool when I went to travel with the carnival. I was probably 15 or 16 then. Would have been 18 in 69. Darn! I was an Arlo Guthrie fan alittle later than that. Have you heard his Alice's Restaurant? Great! I have the tape. One of my favorites. I almost wet myself when I found the tape in the sales bin. Oh yes, Country Joe. Great stuff! Too bad they didn't know how it would all turn out. And now days we get looked at like we are nuts when we give someone the peace sign. Getting better now. I think I am getting better too. Not seeing as many tracers as I used to. I AM KIDDING!!!!

"You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant"! I loved that movie! I can't tell you how many times I saw it! I had a mad crush on Arlo! My birthday is in October so I was always one of the younger kids! I just made it into my grade and graduated high school at 17!

Yes, that was a cool time. I was riding with a motorcycle group that summer so I doubt I had much time to keep up on a festival in a farm land back east. Haha

The summer of 1969 I was 1 year old. My parents had been married for 4 years and I had a brother that was 4 years older than me. I don't remember much of the years up till about the late 70's or early 80's. I don't know anyone that was in the Woodstock era...actively participating that is. I've heard it was a pretty wild time though. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

It was a wild time but also a very carefree and peaceful time. On this continent anyway. I am so glad I was born when i was and have seen all I have. The moon landing, Woodstock, the different presidents, tv shows they talk about now, the popularity of the PC and so much more.

Yes i do remember the first Woodstock Music festival as i was very much a young college student with my own band called ARCHIBEATS. I was the lead guitarist and my favourite was Carlo Santana, Joe Cocker. Sly and the Family Stone. Those were great times though i wasn`t taken up with the hippy culture but used to see hippies regularly in my city of Bombay. Goa was the fav destination of the hippies and they would throng Bombay before going to Goa.Yes, i do miss the old Woodstock though i have a couple of cassettes.Soul Sacrifice, anyone?
