We all have our favourite and subjects we hate. We also have a subject we dread. For most mathematics is one subject they find difficult to understand, although it is high scoring. It is believed that people who are good in mathematics have higher IQ and are brilliant.I was only average in Mathematics.I always wanted to master the subject as a challenge, but never did.Do you find mathematics easy to understand or hard?

My favourite subject. I used to teach my class mates who were weak in the subject and they used to get good marks. I always got 100% in maths.

Maths was my favourite subject at school (a long while ago lol) and I did very well but they kept moving me from one class to another. We were divided into three classes, A,B and C. One term I came top of the B class and the top three were moved to the A class where the teaching was a faster method and I didn't do so well so I got moved back into the B again - where I cane top and back into the A This went on for two yesr until finally they decided to leave me in the B class where I always did well because it was slower method
Even now I don't use any calculators for basic additions and the like and I am quick to add up small amounts. Never had to deal with many big ones

I love Math.I am good at it. I am an Engineer by profession so I need the Math. I teach Math too, for various levels like School, Secondary stage, graduates and Engineering Math. I don't however like too much of numerical Math. My love for Math stems from the beautiful way in which Logic is applied in Math. I also love the way it serves as an accurate "language" to express physical reality in. I mean the application of Math to the Physical and Engineering Sciences. The discovery process in Math is one of the most puzzling developments in Science.

I am not at all Good in Mathematics, I get scared to attend the classes and solve those problems. When I was kid I used to think why Maths is so complicated and why so many Questions are given to solve. Every time I used to feel Additions, subtrations and multiplications are enogh. But Mathematics is very important. In India most of them likes and loves Mathematics I wish I am also one of them but can't do anything now. I feel if basics were taught properly then it would be helpful in a student's life and future.

Yes in India maths is given lot of importance. Remember India gave the numeric 'Zero' to the world withut wich it would have been so much problematic to solve complex mathematical calculations. thx

I have no interests in maths but i still get high marks in maths. It is because my country is good at teaching maths. I've tried the maths part of entrance exams of university( such as SAT) i was surprise to find that some questions we had learned when we were in junior school even in primary school. So some of the questions i felt very easy to do. Our study is very hard.Day by day, year by year we did planty of work and lots of exercises (lots of homework and countless exam papers)after class and on class (we had exercised almost all types of questions in each maths area ) and then our teacher would tell us the anwser and teach us how to do it correctly and orderly to avoid losing the marks.our teachers were very strict and they attached importance to our marks in exams. So we are pushed to study it harder and harder in some ways. Although all of us feel it is very tied to study like this and envy the way of learning abroad, this kind of studying maths does work. My having no interests in maths but geting high marks can prove this. Practice makes perfect. And that's true.

I am from China. Maybe you've heard the education system in my country. Maybe the education of University in China is not as good as that in UK or USA. But the education from primary school to senior high, I dare to say, our country does berter, especially Maths.Coz when we were young, our teachers built very good foundation for us. Our maths lessons are in advance. Just as i said, some Maths problems in Entrance Exams of University are very easy to me. Coz I had already learned them when i was in junior school or even in primary school.But..............the process is really hard and painful. I had been buried in lots of exercises books and exam papers many years!! Many friends from other countries think we have no happy childhood.haha.propably.But if i think of this today, i had to say it's really helpful. If you want to come to my country,WELCOME!
but be careful, our teachers are very strict~~~haha good luck.

I have always liked maths as a subject. But I, myself, have been a very bad math student. This was the subject that had always lowered my percentage. I had been a good students always but this was the only subject i can say i m poor in. Even proudly say, " I am a bad Maths student." HAHAHA

Mathematics, geometry etc anything like that is not my forte. Give me English any time! I did okay at school considering I hated anything to do with arithmetic. I went through High School and passed but I have no idea about Algebra and I don’t even remember learning it; I must have done it to pass...It goes to show how much I retained!

i always zonk out when i see, read, hear or even smell nos. . i do, really. the passing grade here in the philippines is 75 and i'd get 76 in math. yeah, i passed but i did belong to the top 50 students (top section) of a year level with more than 500 students. the only thing keeping my average competitive for that group were my speech and english subjects. i always find the way math problems and questions worded in a much different way. or maybe it's just me and nos. that's why i never applied for a job in a bank. i might end up with a case .

Hi Preethaanju, I was always been a good student and my maths was always good. I always liked this subject as it is very interesting subject. Yes, no doubt there is some difficulties but when I understand it I love to do it. I was always in practice with this subject. I was not master in it but I won't say that I was an average also. I would rather say that I was good in Mathematics.

That is the thing I aim for . That I will be good
in Math. I cannot have it because my level of
thining cannot be the same of the master of it.
I can understand bu its only an average. Somethimes
cannot get it well right away.
For I agree on it that people who is great in Math
has a high and bright I.Q.
I learned to accept this , for as I look this is only
my level of learning but accept to innovative and changes.

Hello preethaanju,
Although I was a consistent performer in Mathematics for the majority of my academic life, there came a period where I was challenged a bit due to the methods of teaching of a new teacher in my school, and this slightly discouraged me. However, I began to take some lessons from a spectacular teacher on the weekends, and it is here that my love for Mathematics was nurtured and eventually blossomed.
All along I was just doing Mathematics because I had a basic grasp of the concepts and I pretty much knew what I was doing. I could not really say that I enjoyed doing Math. However, from the time I began taking lessons with this life-changing teacher, I have moved from simple to disinterest to a passion for Mathematics - a passion that can enable me to get full marks in examinations when I take my time. A passion that helps me look at the world in a whole new perspective with Mathematics providing the foundation for my understanding.
I currently find Mathematics quite easy to understand, and I am eager to take it up at the University level, because even though it is easy to pick up, I enjoy the thinking challenges that carefully thought-up mathematical problems pose to me. It has made me become a seasoned thinker - it helps me to look at problems from various angles and perspectives in order to find a solution. This is the main reason why I also believe that mathematical ability has a strong correlation with one's IQ.
Have you never worked at a problem for minutes, hours, or even days and then finally stumbled on to the answer at the end of that mathematical journey? There are very few feelings in the world that provide me with such satisfaction.
Good luck to you on your mathematical journey - never give up and happy myLotting!

since u had a good grasp of the concept, it really shouldnt have mattered who taught u.. Anyway i am happy to be responding to people who i hold in high esteem. I always respected people with mathematical skills as superior to me, and i wasnt wrong. I think its tooo late for me start another journey to master this subject.. thx for ur vivid response

Iam an average in MATHEMATICS.I have failed in this subject only in my life. Now Iam a B.tech student.Mathematics is very important in this course and Now iam trying to do my level best in this subject.Whenever i fail in this subject iam improving my mind to be a master in mathematics. Now i like mathematics.MATHEMATICS is the only easy subject that all people can easy achieve good marks. But all the concepts of mathematics should try to understand. So Now iam thinking that "ALL PEOPLE WILL DO THEIR BEST TO UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPTS OF MATHEMATICS AFTER READING THIS".....
