I'm Not Sleeping Tonight

That is the title of my most recent blog post [http://littlenicholas.com/2009/07/22/im-not-sleeping-tonight/]. My baby is sick and I don't think I can ever sleep . I already gave him his fever medicine (Tempra Drops) and I will give it to him again after 6 hours (that will be at 2AM later). I am having my 2nd cup of coffee right now, I need to stay awake for my baby, I don't want to miss a single thing... He' still moaning once in a while but he's silently sleeping most of the time (thank God). I am even glad that he woke up 30 minutes ago to drink his milk. His last milk intake was at 3:00 o'clock in the afternoon and well, it was already 10:00 in the evening when he asked for it again (he does have a specific action and cry for milk ). I hope he gets well in the morning. I just can't bear to see my baby sick. What do you do when your child is sick? I guess I'll stay in mylot all through the night till the morning hours...

I actually slept for 3 hours (from midnight to 3AM), after that, no more... Nico's temp dropped from 101.1 too 100.2 this morning.. still feverish, will have to take him to the doctor when he awakes later. I've been wondering what's the cause of the fever, I hope he's got no infection or anything, hope it's just a matter of teething ... I really hate to see him suffer like that...

I sure hope he is feeling better. What did the dr. say? Teething is hard on them, it made both my boys sick when they were small. Little fellows have a hard time & when they are not old enough to tell u what hurts always drove me nuts when mine got sick. Tke care. Love & HUGS TO U BOTH.

I don't think it's a good thing that you won't sleep because it's actually his sleeping time tonight, and regardless the sickness, as long as you gave him his medicines on time, he'd probably sleep on it tonight. Now, if you don't get to sleep tonight, what will happen to you tomorrow when it's his awake time? You need your strength too, so as long as you feel he's sleeping, you should probably get some shut eye too. Just have him close to you when you sleep, so that a little movement or cries would wake you up instantly. Plus for the medicines time, just set your alarm clock or something. The most important thing is that you yourself get some sleep. I don't have kids yet, but when I am taking care of a kid or someone who's sick, I'd sleep, and since I'm a light sleeper, there's no problem for me to wake up when I need to. Plus, since I slept, I'd have full energy for the next day.

Thanks laydee... I was thinking I really should sleep since I'll be needing the energy but I'm so afraid I might not wake up in time he cries in pain or anything. I don't sleep light these days as I am always tired at the end of the day, I'm just so scared... But I know it's only sensible to take some rest... I'll think it over again. Thanks for the response :)
