how would you spend your $1M in a day?

When I was interviewed last year for a job at Deutsche Bank, the interviewer had asked me on what will I do to $1,000,000 that should just be spend in a day. Being on an interview of course, I was thinking that I have to impress the interviewer as much as I could. So, I have answered her with confidence and said I will spend my day in a mall and spend those with expensive bags, perfumes, fashion retails so that I can sell them the next day. So if you're to answer this question, how would you spend your $1M if you just have a day to spend it?

Wow, good question. I'd put about one fourth into my savings account and the rest in my IRA retirement account. Can you imagine the interest I'd get?! I'd then take some of the money in my savings and buy my best friend a much-needed car, put a few thousand toward a new one for me, and put maybe $100,000 toward a charity of my choice. Now it would really suck for me if the day I had to spend it was a Sunday when the banks were closed! :)

Thanks lovinglife, well what would you do if you're just allowed to spend the money and not save it?

You just had to stir things up, didn't you? :) If I HAD to spend it...a new car for me, one for my best friend, and one for my brother. I'd buy my mom's two best friends houses, a PS3 for my husband and I, draperies and blinds for our house, a bass system for my new car, some new cookware for our kitchen. I'd buy a new dryer since ours takes forever to dry a load of laundry. I'd upgrade our washer while I was at it, too! I'd buy a cat condo tree for every room of our house for our lovely kitties, a cat stroller, maybe some new baskets, beds, and toys for them. I would buy my birth mother (she lives in Missouri; I'm adopted) new teeth because she can't save up enough money to get work done on them. My oldest birth sister would get a new house, my birth mother's husband would get a new car, my birth brother would get a house and the dog he's always wanted. I would pay all of my husband's youngest brother's medical bills (he is 10 and recently got out of the hospital because of a brain tumor), and I would pay off their family's house and all of their bills. I would send lots of money to a few charities for animals and some non-denominational churches. I might also buy some property on the moon--you never know when moon real estate is going to make a profit! :) I could think of more, but that's enough for now. Just remember that you are the one that asked! Haha. :)

Haha, free cars are good! I think the people that would be getting the best deal out of it all is my husband's mom's side of the family. They have a LOT of medical bills and therefore are falling behind on tons of payments because of my brother-in-law's tumor. Wouldn't that be nice...hey, by the way, all of your bills are paid! :)

I would pay off my parent's house and land and their vehicles! Then I would pay off all the school loans me and my children have. I would purchase as many pieces of property as i could. Like, apartments so I could have a good decent income for many years.

Hi! If i had to spend $1M in one day, i would buy my a house just the way i wanted it. I would also pay all my bills off. I would buy my oldest son a truck, and give to him. I would buy my daughter a car, and give it to her. I would then take my children at home on a vacation to the mountains.

it's funny that most of the answers here are always family-related. I guess that it's really human nature to think on what's gonna be best for our family.

You mean like spending all of it in one day? I think $800,000 will go to investment. I always want a piece of share in Microsoft, though I doubt $800,000 will get me much. Then, $100,000 is to buy a house. For that much, I can get a low cost in a less crowded area and upgrade it later on. $50,000 is for my mom. She can do whatever she wants with it. Another $30,000 will be keep in my fund. $10,000 is for charity. The rest is for my vacation and spending.

Nah, I doubt she'll buy a car. She can't drive it and never speak of buying one. But of course she'll be happy. She's been speaking of planting more rubber tree in in of our farm. If I can give her such amount, she'll be damn happy.

wow your mom will truly be happy. Imagine spending $50,000 in one day, can buy a car and have plenty left for shopping. That would be really a great treat for her.

If I had a million dollars, and I had to spend it today, the first thing I would buy would be a house and a car, since I have neither right now. Then I would buy a building for the bakery I want to start, and all the kitchen equipment that I needed. If I had any left over, I would buy my fiance a lifetime supply of Coke and Newports, so she would never have to worry about running out.

Hi, That's a whole lot of money for me. I will clear all my long term financial commitments and then give the remaining in charity. As far as answering the question in the interview goes, I would have said that I will buy a gift for the lady interviewer for having selected me.Ha...ha...ha. Like some body asked my father way back in 1976 when he attended an interview at siemens " You seem to be a little short for this position and my father replied Sir, An Indian is always measured above the chin and not below".

Well that would certainly be fun. I'd buy a house and 2 reliable cars to start. I'd pay off all of my debts along with my boyfriends, my parents and my sisters. I'd rent an apartment for my sister and pay for 1 years rent in advance. I'd buy myself some new clothes (something I haven't done in a few years and desperately need to do anyway). I'd purchase furniture for said house, and a bunch of sensory toys/items for my son, who has Autism. I'd make a nice donation to Autism Speaks. I'd pay the start up on a home based business I've been interested in for awhile but simply don't have the money to do. I'd book a vacation to Disney World for my family, along with book plans and pay in advance for my son's father to come out and visit him every month for the next year, complete with hotel stay and rental car. If there's anything left after that, I'd buy a bunch of gift cards for the grocery store, walmart, etc to give to friends and family members when they need a little help getting by.

wow.. I will buy a condo unit for my mum to stay, and contract a maid for her use. I won't buy a big house, coz it will take lots of effort to clean up (this may used up a quarter million . Then, I will also again take everyone from home for a shopping spree... and budget to another quarter million... I will sure buy a nice watch and a diamond ring for myself.. Buying another car for myself.. buy loads of toys for my baby... Then the other half a million, I will buy another 2 smaller unit of property for investment purposes... :) Happy MyLotting

I will spend the $1M by: giving some to my parents, in-laws and family to but what they need, o portion goes to my favorite charity, another portion for the renovation of our church and some for my husband. The rest i would also do the same thing buy all i can in the mall and resell them.
