What is the point of rushing passage of a health care reform bill

that won't go into effect until 2013? How could it possibly hurt to have time for open debate before it gets signed? What difference will a few months make?

I think they don't want people to sit and think about it, because it's not really a good plan at all. Republican are opposed to it. It's not really what he was promising when he was running for president. Also, he's probably gunning to do this so he can claim he made a "change", that's his catch phrase. Yes, a change for the worse. By the way, I love your avatar. It made me laugh.

Not just Republicans are opposed to it. The bill could pass without a single Republican vote in both the House and Senate. Obama is being opposed by his own party here.

Did you say it won't go into effect until 2013? So what is the rush, it won't help the people now. So yes what is the rush. To make sure that he gets credit for it. I am sure he is assuming he will be reelected. I am sure he won't. It should be gone over page by page. And made sure that it is the best they can do for the people, and that all areas are covered. That parts that do not speak of certain things then a special text should be added as to just what it means paragraph by paragraph, then when something happens there is not reason to have to find our selves in court fighting over whether the wording covers us or not. Yes what do you think is the reason for the rush, I can't think of any other reason that he wants it passed so fast unless he thinks that this was part of his pre election promises and no matter what it reads he kept the promise he made to the people.

I think he wants to rush it so he can move on to the next part of his agenda of control. He says that it would be terrible for people who can't afford medical care to have to wait until Congress comes back from recess. But we know that's a rediculous assertion, since everyone of those people he says he cares about will be waiting until 2013 no matter how long it takes to pass this turkey of a bill.

they are still trying to get it in during the "honeymoon" - I, however, have hated him - well, not just him - but all those Dem. since long before he was president.

The point is obvious. It's like Mike Huckabee said. Any time someone says a bill has to be rushed through, it means there's something in there they don't want you to know about. The faster they can pass it, the less likely anyone is to read it. Hey, it worked with the stimulus bill didn't it? All it cost Obama was one ally, Chris Dodd, thrown to the wolves as a scapegoat. I found it a little odd that such a move didn't make house or senate democrats question how much they could trust the president. Either way, I'm sure people who read it will find no end of garbage in there that screws taxpayers while rewarding political contributors. Liberal voters however will remain blissfully ignorant, feeling no need to read the bill and question the messiah or his lackeys.

Initially, he expected complete support from all Democrats. The more time that passes, the more that block of votes suffers from attrition. The rush is two-fold: A. He wants to push it through before anyone still backing him decides to oppose the bill (especially those worried about losing their jobs in the next election); and B. The very real fact that much of his support for anything could be gone after the 2010 elections. As much as Obama's support for his individual policies is starting to fall, the approval rate for Congress is abysmal. People are just aching to throw these bums out.

If he continues to be President then I hope he has to be it with a Republican House and Senate. This man is unbelievable. I hope that as each day goes by more Democrats start disagreeing with him. Something has to be done to stop him sending our country down the tubes.

They want to rush it because it isn't a good idea. Lets be realistic, everything costs money, and nothing is free. And where does all the money come from...us, our taxes that we pay. So, this health care plan isn't really free, we are just going to HAVE to pay for it. If they rush this through before people understand it, we are going to get screwed. I think it should be something that the American people are allowed to vote on, not just a bunch of rich people that we elect to do it for us.

True, this whole thing is nothing but the ultimate "Something for Nothing" scam.
