2 Tots Shot By Accident

I read with deep sorrow yesterday the reports of two separate shooting incidents by children 5 and under. Sadly the 3-year-old died from the injuries sustained when he got hold of a gun and reportedly shot himself. I'm unsure on the condition of the 5-year-old. These accidents both took place in my surrounding area. Uppermost in my mind when I heard these stories was why these situations are still occurring. You would think that with all of the advice we've been hearing for many years now that no child would be able to even get their hands on a gun in their home. I am very upset about this because I feel that this should never have happened. I did own a handgun for a brief period while my children were young, but it was never kept in a place where they could get their hands on it. While I sympathize with both of the families, I can't help but think that they wish they could rethink their decision to ever have a gun in their homes. Does it seem to you that these incidents are still happening much too often?
