I paint, mostly watercolor but sometime soil and I've been thinking about selling my work online. I know you can sell your work at Etsy but I'm not sure how well that works for people and I was also wondering if there are other sites you can list on.

well, deviantart.com is not a website that sells art, it is a community of artists, eventhough when you submit your art you have the option to put it on sell. You can also offer your art from your account. (It's free o join)
The good thing about this site is that big artists and companies have accounts here and usually look at the art posted there and sometimes they buy art or hire people to work for them.
The most remarkable case is a guy that drew all the characters of "The simpsons" in his style, and now is working for Matt Groening.
The website: deviantart.com
Hope it helps.

comicspace is for graphic novelists.
there is a lot more. i met many painters in chatrooms selling their art. maybe hang out in different chatrooms and talk with other painters and artists.

Try Amazon.com or Ebay.com. They might have some thing in their categories that accepts art.
