Here's what Fox News military pundit retired Army Lt. Col. Ralph Peters had to say about captured U.S. soldier Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl::
"Now look, Julie, I want to be clear. If, when the facts are in, we find out that through some convoluted chain of events, he really was captured by the Taliban, I'm with him. But, if he walked away from his post and his buddies at wartime... I don't care how hard it sounds, as far as I'm concerned, the Taliban can save us a lot of legal hassles and legal bills."
You can see it here:

There really isn't much else to say, is there? Still, here's more from the article above:
Such proclamations aren't unusual for Peters, however. He actually has a bizarre penchant for executions. Recently, Peters stated his lusty desire to see the U.S. government execute all prisoners at Guantanamo Bay--without regard for their legal rights, and in spite of the fact that, in his own words, "there will be miscarriages of justice." And in another instance in May of this year, Peters also called for "military attacks on the partisan media."

Hi, Annie!
I can't help wondering how such hateful, horrible people can achieve their place in the limelight! If this is representative of the leaders of the Armed Forces, no wonder there are atrocities that need to be investigated!

It's horribly reminiscent of the lynch mobs of not-so-long=ago!

I have a controversial view of this and other incidents like it. I came to this view during the original Iran hostage situation. We should quit negotiating with these terrorist for the release of hostages. Every time we do it just gives them more power and they know how to get to us.

This azzhole is no different than many in the world whose thoughts and ideas instigate groups like Al-Qaeda and the Taliban to act. He is as radical as they are and has no place in our society. I can't control his thoughts - it's a free country. But, to advocate violence against anyone he is in disagreement with makes him as bad as all the terrorists who have attacked us or plan to attack us.

Whether or not he did or did not leave his post he doesn't deserve to die. Does anyone know how long he has been in Iraq? Does he have PTSD? Is he mentally stable? There are so many questions we don't have answers to and for this guy to say the Taliban should kill him is just crazy.

Hey annie~ I really don't know how this moron even got through
his Army career to begin without someone of his own men doing
him in just because he is such a phucking azzhole! I think
that we should send him over to take this prisoners place!
Let the Taliban have him! He is nothing but a waste of a
human being and I use that term loosely! He has no regard
for anyone and anything! If he is for killing anyone and
everyone let him be the first to be killed! I'm quite sure
there would be plenty of volunteers to do the honors!

Leaving a base is desertion unless the person has a good explanation, such as hearing that the enemy captured a comrade, or he knows someone who is in danger and then he would usually leave a note saying, "my sergeant has been captured by the Taliban, tell the commanding officer I have gone to rescue him," It used to be that he would be shot by the orders of his commanding officer. I am sure the parents or relatives of this soldier would not want to know that he was a deserter, even if the war is hard. (I mean you join the military to defend your country or to fight the enemy)and if he were executed because the commanding officer assumed he was a traitor and was going over to the Taliban, his family would feel more ashamed then if he were captured by the Taliban. They would have assumed that he maybe heard that one of his comrades was in trouble and went to help.
So in a way, if the Taliban had executed him, at least his name would be cleared and he would be considered a hero.
AS for the prisoners in GITMO they were not captured wearing uniforms. They were terrorists who pretended to look like ordinary Muslims.

It's a good thing that jerk is a retired Lt. Colonel, this is a dirty dig at anyone that served or is serving in the armed forces. It's no wonder he didn't make "full bird Colonel" before retiring. He probably spent most of his time in the orderly room, not on the battle lines.

Absolutely ridiculous. For everyone that says that this guy (the anchor) 'has a point' because you need to depend on your troops, you are entirely out of line. No one knows exactly what happened except for this gentleman and perhaps a few other people. And ya know what? If he DID leave his post for whatever reason? I'm not going to discredit him for being brave enough to enlist anyways. I don't have what it takes to fight for the country. I'm not physically strong and yes, in stressful situations, I do get upset and down. I am so proud of the individuals that fight for my freedom. They go into war, and they may never come back. They experience terrifying things and I can only hope that God brings them comfort when needed. And God bless the families of people in the service.
