Admit it or not, our name is one of the priceless possessions we have, something we truly call our own. Ever counted how many times you googled your name to see how many in this world share the same name like you? I had countless times! My real name is Aessa. As precious as it is, it had a beautiful origin. Aessa would not have been my name until one day my mother read a beautiful story of a kingdom under the sea. The main character was Aessa- a beautiful mermaid, kind and loving daughter, talented and so loved by the sea kingdom. Being the smartest and the bravest one, she became a warrior, led and defended their kingdom. My mom felt enamored with the character, in the hopes of having a beautiful, kind, loving daughter, she named me Aessa. I was always told of that story. The mermaid character has become somebody I always try to emulate. The story might be simple and common, too much of fairy-tale, but the character became my inspiration. So, that's pretty much what's in my name. How about you? What's in your name?

My name means gold, because before my parents had me, my mom have gave pregnant to 4 baby boys and they really wanted a girl, and when they got me, they name me mas, means gold. Even though I'm the only daughter, my parents do not spoil me, in fact they treated me same. Asked me to help them at the farm and treat me equally. yes, I do agree, our name has their own significant and I love my name. Happy Mylotting

My name is Joy; my username is chedvah which is Hebrew for Joy - the joy of the 'joy of the L-RD is your strength'. I was born early in the am and the Psalms tells us that 'joy comes in the morning'. At least that is what my mom would say when talking about why she named me 'Joy'. Ironically, with the name 'Joy' I suffered depression for a number of years. I prayed to be more like my name. G-d in His goodness has answered that prayer as now, with a wonderful second husband, my adult children finally settling down and doing well, and 3 wonderful grandchildren, I am beginning to feel like my cup of joy is filling up. My husband told me that the hardships we go through in life is to make that cup deeper so that it will be able to contain more joy in the years to come when the blessings come in. Proverbs tells us that the virtuous woman will 'rejoice in time to come'. I guess that is me - my time is finally come to reflect my name - Joy.

In our country, there are millions of people with the name Joy, and never never did I hear the name Chedvah! And what surprises me is that it is a Hebrew name! Nice nice! My real name is Elysse and it was given to me at birth because I had my dad's baby face. Since his name is Luis, I was named Elysse since it sounds similar. I think that story of your name is really beautiful. Even though I wasn't named for the name's meaning, I really like it. It can be related to either the name Elysia or Elizabeth. I really like how the name Elysse sounds, too.
