Battle of the Bands: Which do you prefer?

What a hard question, and one I don't think I could fairly vote on. Coldplay is an amzing band of the new millenium and they have all ready hit some great cultural influences of the rock industry. U@ is a major necessity in music as well though-and considered classic now. I guess if I absolutely had to choose, I would choose Coldplay. I find very few artists of today worth saying that about. I enjoy older music hand down over nearly any band of today. Coldplay is refreshing and significant to my current taste.

both the bands are very different, they have got their own specialties what i like about coldplay is that their music is very wide ranging meaning, they are not at all monotonous unlike iron maiden, if you listen to iron maiden all the songs are more or less the same and you can easily identify if it is iron maiden, but coldplay have some really fantastic songs, their songs are so different from each other, it is really fun to listen to their albums where each song is different. what i like about U2 is the way their music is, their lyrics are also fantastic and has a lot of meaning, even coldplay songs have a lot of meaning, U2 makes their songs where they have a nice transitions and a nice rock feel to it... i would rather say i would like to listen to both but if i had to make a choice i would go for U2

Absolutely U2. My friends and I have a joke, "I used to really like Coldplay, back in the 80's when they were called U2." Implying that the innovative and fabulously original sound Coldplay gets all the acclaim for is really not that original.

Tough choice. My dad made me a U2 fan and I love them still.. Coldplay, on the otherhand, I discovered by myself so Im quite attached to them. Sigh. If I really had to choose, Id have to go with Coldplay. :-)
