I know that there are some limitations in cinematic adaptations of books, but the latest Harry Potter movie was really disappointing. So many important parts of the book were omitted like when Dumbledore fetched Harry from Privet Drive and the duel between the Hogwarts students and the death eaters. The movie was really a disappointment.
How about you guys, what do you think?

I'm always hugely disappointed with the movie versions of Harry Potter. The acting is horrible, the plot is rushed and the effects are worthless.
The romance is boring, Ron needs a hair cut, Ginny is ugly, Harry walks with a limp... the battles were ordinary, and the last 20 minutes were the worst, whereas they were the best in the book.
The only scene that looked good was the scene of Slughorn and Tom Riddle, talking about the Horcrux... it was a little short though.
I hope that lady who plays Bellatrix isn't in the next movie, she whispered through all her scenes, except when she was laughing. I imagined Bellatrix as a loud woman highly confident in her abilities.
I think the producer and director need to go, and replaced with people that know how to make a movie.

Wow, you must really be a Potter fan. Yeah, the movies are really disappointing. If the producer cannot come up with something that is almost as good as the book, they shouldn't make a movie adaptation. I think the sentiment is the same with all other books that have been made into movies - da vinci code, angels and demons, even twilight!

Then you watch the Lord of the Rings which was an improvement from the book.

oops, i've not read harry poter book series so i'm not the right person to answer this. But would like to share something - it is very difficult to show each and every bit of a book because a reader can fantasize the author's description as long as they want to.
But when thick volumes of books are packed in 2 or 2 and half hours movie they do omit certain part of th book. The same thing happened with DaVinci Code and people were disappointed :S

i understand that there are limitations in movie adaptations of books but the screenwriter should at least retain facts/scenes that are relevant to the story. Although my friends who have not read the book but were able to watch the movie, loved the movie and were impressed with the effects.
