Would you donate a kidney to save someone's life?

I recently found out my mom may eventually have to have a kidney transplant. She has a lot of health problems and will be lucky to get an extra 5 to 10 years. I would like to to donate mine if need be but she told me she won't let me. She is my mom. I want her to live as long as she can. I want to give mine if the time comes. She has lot of health issues so this is a real concern for me. My husband also is against it. He doesn't understand. I think if it were his mom he would understand better. He says they will not let me stay in the Marine Corps if I give up a kidney. I think I could fight this if this is the case. Plus it is my mom. I think this should be my choice to make. Would you donate a kidney to save a life?
