Would you steal an animal to save it's life? -If it were being abused!

Would you steal an animal that was being severly abused or neglected and you knew it was just a matter of time before the animal would die as a result?
I think I would first try animal control but if that failed I would go to alternative measures! I am a big animal love so seeing an animal being mistreated is a hard situation for me. What would you do or how would you handle this situation?

My first step would be to get in touch with the authorities which here in the UK would be the RSPCA. The abuse of animals is acted upon very quickly here and usually an officer will be round in under an hour to assess what is going on and if need be they will remove the animals and call the police where abuse is ajudged to be happening. The other good thing with the way the RSPCA works as even if they cannot prove maltreatment on their initial visit they usually keep the property under observation and will call back at anytime to check up.
If in the unlikely situation that the RSPCA didn't act then I would take matters into my own hands despite that doing so would cause me to break the law.

It is wonderful you have a program like that. I am sure the RSPCA has helped many animals. Hopefully they will do somethng so you won't have to. But I understand what you mean by taking it in your own hands if they don't. That is how I feel. I can't stand sitting by and whatching an animal being bused!

I am a big animal lover, I hate to see animal get abused either... I would feel so so bad and frustrated! Fortunately, I have never seen them get abused in real person... I would probably take the animals or report the abusor's behavior.

I am glad you haven't had to see it. It is ver furstrating. The bad part about animal control in my area is they take them to the shelter and it is a kill shelter. I don't understand why people get animals just to mistreat them;-(

I would definitely go to animal control first. If an animal is truly being neglected or abused, there's not much a person can do to hide the fact. If animal control didn't do anything, I would probably take matters into my own hands. Whether it meant confronting the owner or simply taking the animal and finding a better home for it.

Nice response. I am not sure why animal control would not do anything but I guess it is possible. To many animals are abused and neglected. I think it is sad. I also think it is sad that people see it and don't do anything!

Where I live there is no animal controll. They will only send someone out if an animal has bitten someone. Due to this I have "relocated" a few pets to new homes without telling the owners.
I did not go onto their property to take the animals though. All of the pets that have been relocated have been roaming in the road; and now have loving families that take care of them and keep them in a yard where they will be safe.
And no I do not feel bad about it either.

Nice! Good job! If hte owner is just letting them roam it is clear they don't care anything about them. I am glad they have found loving homes. It is sad some places don't have animal controll. I think protecting animals if very important.
