Have you ever been on a Ghost Walk???

I have noticed that a lot of historic cities and towns have started conducting ghost walks in the evenings. I have not actually been on one of these ghost walks myself, but I have heard that they can be quite fun and entertaining, and can teach you a lot about the history of a town or city.
So I am just curious if anyone here has ever been on a ghost walk? What was it like, and did you actually encounter any ghosts?
I think I would love to try a ghost walk in the future. I would choose London, York or Lincoln in England as one of my most desirable locations for a ghost walk, as they are very historic. But if you could go on a ghost walk in any city across the world where would it be and why?

Im really drawn to the the paranormal and I have been on Ghost Walks in Salem, Ma and Gettysburg PA. Both times I have gotten results with my camera. It is fascinating not just for the paranormal but the history as well. I got a picture from Salem next to the old jailhouse of a female apparition. I got orbs at both places and a few other things.
I really enjoyed the ghost walks not just for that (although) that is what got me to go to begin with but you do learn alot of history about the places too.
If I could go anywhere on a ghost walk I dont know if I can just pick one! LOL! I would love to go to Alcatraz (spending the night there would be awesome!), an old hospital or something along those lines and a castle! Yeah Im hooked! lol

I have a regular digital camera. I just take pics almost constantly while on the walks. You just never know what will show up and where! When on a trip I take pics the whole time even off of the walks and had some neat pics come up. We had some really neat experiences at Devils Den in Gettysburg, Pa. We are planning to go back there as when we were there I was in pain the whole time (back was out) although it was very historically and interesting still! I wish I lived somewhere were there was a castle!
We have to go on trips to experience almost anything, we live in small town in PA and there isnt much here. I have gotten some orbs thou and a neat pic even at our local cemetery.

It sounds like you have lots of interesting pictures of the paranormal. They can obviously pick up things that the human eye might miss. I will definitely be taking my own digital camera along with me now. Maybe I'll even start to carry it around to discover what types of activity are around in my local area.
Good luck on your next trip to Devils Den. I hope you get to catch some more phenomenon there. Thanks for the information.

It sounds like you have caught quite a bit of activity on your ghost walks with your camera. You must be pretty pleased to have actually taken a picture of an apparition too.
Do you use any special type of camera for taking pictures of ghosts? I don't know much about taking pictures of ghosts, so I would be interested to hear more about your methods.
Alcatraz would probably be one extremely scary place to visit, and I bet it is just teeming with activity at night. I am thinking of maybe taking my first ghost walk in Lincoln as there is a lot of historic buildings there including a castle and cathedral. That way if I don't see any ghosts, at least I will have learnt a bit more about the history of the city.
Thanks for your response.

I have been on a couple of "ghost walks" here in the USA. There are many not too far from where I live. They can be a lot of fun, people sometimes are fascinating to watch when they get scared. I have never seen a ghost while on one of them.
I have a friend that's job is to escorts ghost walk tours in Plymouth, Ma. USA.
He says they have seen ghosts and other mysterious things on some of the walks.
I have seen ghosts, or spirits however not while on a ghost walk. That's not to say you wouldn't see one on a walk but it's not like they are sitting around waiting for the next group to come through... lol
I think if you can you should give it a go. You never know what you will see at any given time. I also don't live too far from Salem, Ma. USA.
Salem is a city in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States. The Salem witch trials, which began in 1692, resulted in the execution of 20 people and the imprisonment of between 175 and 200 others. Many say it is their ghost haunting the quiet town. Restless ghost seeking revenge for crimes that they were not guilty of. Salem is a common name for towns and places, particularly in the Western world. In ancient times it was the name of a locality in the Near East (Palestine), and traditionally identified with Jerusalem, before the name "Jerusalem" was used.
Good luck and Brightest blessings,
Mari

Yes, I agree that it is doubtful that ghosts are just waiting around waiting to jump out on the next group of ghost walkers. It is good to hear that some of the escorts near you have had experiences while on these ghost walks though.
Yes, there are lots of places in the UK where men and women were put on trial and hanged for witchcraft. I think Pendle Hill in Lancashire is one of the more famous locations for this, although the number of 'witch hangings' were not as numerous as those you quoted for Salem. I suppose with all those executions, Salem must be quite a spooky location for a ghost walk.
I think I will definitely try and go on a ghost walk some time in the future. From what you have said it sounds like they can be very interesting experiences even if you don't see any ghosts.
Thanks for your response and the picture.

I only heard of them when I came across a sign in the street. I found out they are quite common activities now. Probably because of all the paranormal ghost shows on TV. I think it would be quite an exciting experience walking round a city at night looking for ghosts.

I think I'd like to try it at night somewhere in England.Old castles and graveyards would be the number one places for this Ghost Walk.I think Paris and Prague are good choices too.I was in Prague three years ago, and it wasn't any Ghost Walk actually, but we were walking the streets after midnight and two people from our group saw a strange dark figure in front of us.I didn't see anything, but their face expressions were weird!

That sounds scary! I could see somewhere like Prague being quite a spooky place at night. I haven't seen any ghosts, in the towns or cities I have visited yet. I think that is why I'm interested in possibility of doing a ghost walk. But I'm not sure if anyone actually encounters ghosts on these type of walks. It is probably more safe to walk round in a group at night than by yourself though.
