When writing academic papers, which format or style of writing do you prefer? APA, Chicago [Tuberian], or MLA? I learned all three formats in my college English class, but MLA was the main format for English. I found out when taking my education classes that they all required APA format. History classes, however, preferred the Chicago style with footnotes or endnotes. Personally, I really hate APA!!!! Is it because I had to write papers in this format for over 3 years? Not really. It's because I went to college to become an English teacher and the idea of not capitalizing certain words in the references section of the paper really got to me - like nails on a chalkboard. LOL. I actually prefer Chicago style, with its footnotes and endnotes; however, I can get along alright with MLA [that is if I still remember how after so many years of the dreaded APA]. Which writing format or style do you prefer? Why?
