I remember as a kid we used to play a game called MASH(Mansion-Apartment-Shack-House). It is where your friend guess three or five things including things like spouse, house, job, salary etc. Then you choose a lucky number and count each category down leaving only one answer that will end up being what your life will be when you grow up. It was really fun as a kid and even better if you chose one thing that is something that you really didn't like. I have been teaching my kids that game since I thought it was so fun as a kid...
There are a ton of things that I have carried down from my childhood including the Mash game and I got to thinking what type of traditional games have you carried on to your family?

MASH!!! Two thumbs up to you for remembering such a silly game when we were children. HAHAHA What a great memory. I remember always getting the cutest guys' name and ending up in a shack, while the last choice lamo was in a mansion hahahah
kudos! ... but I do not have children to share it with yet. I have been blessed with the joy of seeing my neice get a kick out of the paper game. It's cute.

Wow...I remember this game! I played it sometime in elementary school. This brings back memories. I used to play red light, green light as a kid. It was so much fun. I also played Simon Says and "O-U-T Out." It's kind of like dodge ball. A few kids stand in the middle who are trying to avoid the ball and other kids on the outskirts throw the ball to try to hit them. If the kids get hit 3 times then they are out. Those are all the games I can remember for now but I am sure there is more.

I actually play this game a lot nowadays. Me and my friends play MASH when there's absolutely nothing else to do.
Sadly, other than that no other traditional games are still played by my family. Maybe it's because even my 60 year old mother is playing video games.

hahahah that game was so fun! in 3rd grade everyday it rained during recess we'd make a little circle and take turns playing. We'd never argue because we knew if we argued we wouldnt get to play, and playing was the only fun part of the school day back then! hahaahhahahah

I used to play that game all the time!!! I haven't played in years though! I probably haven't played in the last decade even! Although just the other evening I was going through my room collecting items to sell at a yard sale, and I found an old purse of mine from when I was in middle school. In the purse was a bunch of old notes my friends had written me in class! And in with the notes was a few games of MASH! It sure brought back a lot of memories!

WOW after reading your discussion i actually do remember this now. It is really funny that you brought it up as i used to play this all the time in elementary school and since then i probably haven't even heard about it. That's great that you remember the game and now how to play and now even teach your kids the game as it will keep them out of trouble and laugh while playing it.
As i don't have a family and still live with my parents i have no kids to teach games and play games with. Hopefully one day i will though.

Oh, I do remember. We would play it until we got the answers that we wanted! I don't really remember how to play, but its coming back slowly. I haven't really been able to teach my kids the games I played as a child because of how different it is where I live now as compared to where I grew up. There weren't a lot of games as a child because we had to work all the time. Cutting fire wood, and hauling water, there was no electricity and no running water. The first puzzle I remember was a big rock that my brother broke, and I would put it back together. lol...so different for me, but I will probably teach my daughter MASH! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!!
