Free water at restruaunts?

can fast food places deny you water?
ive walked in a fast food place ( not going to say which), and they said they do no longer serve water. another time i enter, they gave me a water cup without any problems.
ive walked in to mcdonalds and they ALWAYS gave me a water cup. they even used the kids meal cup and the ice cream sundae cup as substitute for me.
why is it that one place is so willing to give me a water cup, but another fast food doesnt give it to me? isnt it mandatory to provide water? or not?
i purchased food in both instances.

That is really lame, they probably want you to buy their bottled water, which is so wasteful. I can just go on a rant about bottled water. Water should be free to everyone no matter what, it's one of the most simple natural things in the world, and also the most important. I am not sure of if it is mandatory, but with fast food it should be.
All fast foods in Thailand can serve the cold water for free.In my country may be cheap cost of water, you can recieve the water free all restaurants and food courts.

i suppose it is also the right of the fast food place to not give water... maybe their water is not potable? or maybe they are just lazy to get you some.
Most of the time when i ask for water from any fast food i'm in (or even if i just went in to drink) they'd give me free water.
I think it should be an open option for everyone in any fast food place......

Hello, I think it depends on their policy to "GIVE AWAY" items.Some have no problem with giving water away but others want some change for the cup and water.I would only go to the places you know where if you wanted water you wouldn't have any problem receiving water.It is not mandatory to give away anything. It's what ever their policy is.

Some restaurant have that policy, to have some free water, what you can do is buy food, and you have a free water join in your meal, if ever you are not going to buy some drink, i always experience that if ever we eat out.
