i was talking to my niece a little while ago and she told me she does not like her food to touch each other. she also is one that likes to eat all of one food before she eats another on her plate. she said if you eat more than one food at a time you are not getting the true taste of the food. I myself do not care if the food is touching each other and do not just eat one food then the other. how do you eat your food and why? do you think eating more than one food at a time takes away from the taste of the food?

it depends.
if the food are alike, i'll mix them to eat,hehe...
but if such as the soup, i wont eat any food with it.
usually, i have no special habit, just eat what i want in the bowls, lol...

I am just like your neice I don't like my food to touch either. That way some of the juices and flavor gets into the other food, which could make it taste nasty or not the same as it was. Also just like your neice I only eat one food at a time so I can savor the flavor for as long as possible.
