Hey everyone. I need some advice. In September, I might be getting some extra money. There's this business that sells educational toys. If you buy the start up kit it's 100 dollars, shipping including. For every product you sell, you get a 25% comission. I'm temped to do this, but I'm nervous to put out the money and not make any thing. Have you ever tried to sell something? How did it go? Would you take this offer or pass?

I would ask around and see if anyone would be interested in buying these toys get your customer base or you might be lumbered with all these toys and a $100 dollars down. Why don't you get a part time job at Mc donalds instead,i would not bother myself but it is up to you.

I hear that. I think an opportunity is out there for everyone, but not everyone is comfortable selling to others. I think it really depends on who you are and your ease at talking to others. Self confidence is the key to any kind of job in sales and this would be that kind of thing.
Plus how would you market yourself? Toy parties? Do a demo for a local daycare or preschool? You have to think about who you would contact and who are potential buyers.
My daughter sold knives for a while - did great, but then the area dried up. She chouldn't justify travel time with doing demos. Sad, she was great at what she did but her market dried up.
I do think it's different, not pampered chef or tupperware you know what I'm saying. I think that any time we look at something have to think about how much time you really have to offer to making this work.

Any type of program like this, is sure to have a solid forum somewhere online specific to the site, along with forums/sites that handle this general topic.
I would look for them, read around them, ask your questions there would be my advice for ya.
I would also imagine and program like this with such a low start up cost, has some serious spongers out there. Look around and I'm sure you could find someone that would be willing to cover the start up costs for a small profit from ya.
best of luck

In business you have to work very hard especially when you are selling something. I have sold Mary Kay and Noni juice. I did OK in both you learn a lot in business. Now if your are selling toys online that might be easier. And sometimes the people that are around you that are close to you or know of you. Do they have children and money to support you and to spread the word to others who have money. It just depends but be careful. I would not do it. Do research the market for educational toys as well in your area. I am not saying you can not be successful but it take a lot of work with the right things to say to get someone to buy your product.
