Phew! The Cake's Done But Still, Life Is Hectic!

It's my step-niece's wedding tomorrow and she asked me to make the cake. The finishing of it was left a little late because there has been so much else going on that I was spreading myself a bit thin, but today, at 1.12 precisely, I finished! I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out too, despite the initial worry that I wouldn't be finished in time. I've left it resting, set up as in the picture, so that it's no problem tomorrow, and now, I'm taking some well-earned time out. lol.
I've still got a lot of darts stuff to sort out, although I've broken the back of it and found a new Chairman, Treasurer and Competitions Secretary, but we still have to busy ourselves with raising funds, so all through August, we have open competitions on the Wednesdays, I'm going to the Lammas weekend celebrations with my sister again next Saturday; then on 11th August, I have to go to court, to give evidence. That's on top of all the preparations for the winter darts league which starts on 9th September this year. So, all in all, this summer has been a nightmare! I can only apologise to my friends for not having visited, but maybe in the latter part of August, I can sort something out. Please be patient with me you two!
How has your summer been so far? Do you know where you're at or are you finding it increasingly chaotic, like me? It seems that no sooner I get one thing done than two more fall in my lap! Is it the same with you?
Ah well... I just have to sort myself out for tomorrow, and hope my step-niece and her young man like the cake which I'm gifting to them. I'm certainly not going to do much tomorrow... just sit back and enjoy the day!

Oooops, posted that before I'd finished too! What's going on here today?Going to give evidence in a case of benefits fraud. Nothing to do with me my friend; they just want to ask one stupid question about who was living at an address, and I have to make myself available for two weeks. I'm sure it won't go on that long but this ludicrous judicial system has said that I have to be there, despite the fact I have no public transport to Lewes, some twelve to fifteen miles away. I turned down their car, and am getting a lift from a neighbour. lol.
Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution, my friend. I'll try the cake pic again now.

You'd better believe it my friend! I don't really mind being busy but the stress of this darts thing is getting to me a bit. I've got it sorted now, I think, with replacement officers, but it's not really over yet, as we have to recoup some missing monies, and I have to guide the new officers into their post being the only long-standing officer left in the league. We were so close to losing our darts league, that I can't tell you, but I think it will calm down gradually. I'm just a bit tired with all the toing and froing.
I'll try to get up in the latter part of August, but if that fails, it will be September now, but I'll work hard towards getting there. We have "open" darts comps every Wednesday in August, but I think I can trust a couple of others to sort them out. I need to take a hike to Devon as well, so might do them with just a week apart. That friend is on holiday from work only during August, so I have to sort myself out pretty quickly, as August is a busy time for travelling. Coaches full of kids and stuff!
Well, I have to go and bathe and get ready for the wedding now. It will be a welcome relief from other things, and I'm determined to enjoy myself! Brightest Blessings, love and hugggggs. xx

I am hoping you posted a picture, your cakes are always a treat to see. You do sound busy. My substitute staff said "I thought I was going to have vacation this summer, but I haven't seen it" and that is how you sound as well. This is my day off this week. We got up and shopped out of town, now hubby will be going off to work. I love the changing seasons and competitions, so I hope your darts league goes well.

I did try to post a picture with the discussion but, for some reason, it didn't upload. So, you can find the pic in responses 1 and 3, but I'll upload it here for you, just in case you have problems.
Busy isn't the word, what with one thing and another. I forgot the fact that my granddaughter went to a "Moulin Rouge" party early in the month, and she wanted me to make a bustle for her. I had to go to Crawley, eight miles away, with her, to choose and buy the materials, then make this black and "hot pink" bustle, lol. It turned out well though, and she really liked it, but it was time consuming as I couldn't find the pedal of my sewing machine and had to stitch it all by hand, lol. That over, more things sprung up, and still seem to keep doing so. I don't go out to work, and it's a good job I don't, I think. I would never find enough time in the day! lol. I don't mind being busy really, but I'd like a little time to chill every now and again, and to visit my friends, who haven't seen me since last June. I must make a special effort very soon.
Brightest Blessings, my friend. The winter league will be fine. I've managed to find new officers, but now, I have to show them the ropes a bit because I'm the only long-standing officer left! Sheeeesh! Thank you for your contribution.

Well, I got it to the hall safely, and the guys love it. I got the colours to match perfectly, which amazed my sister somewhat, but as long as the bride and groom are happy, then so am I. I've gifted them with the cake, rather than give them money, as requested, because it will save them a fortune not having to pay for it, or it would in a shop at least.
There are times when I wish I had a pool so I could just go and chill out when I want to, but alas, my garden isn't big enough for one. If I want a swim, I have to go to the local sports centre, which for me, is not easily accessible, (no buses).
The cake pic didn't come out with the discussion upload, so you can find it in response #1 and #3. Brightest Blessings, my friend and thank you for your contribution.

Thank you... you're right! Time to sit back and enjoy her day. We can all relax and let our hair down now the hard work is done. My sister has worked the hardest, but then, she wouldn't be happy sitting around and letting somebody else do it! ha ha ha.
Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution.

Hi Dark,
I don't know how you do it all. Even before I became disabled, I didn't have that kind of energy. I think my twin has all the energy. I hope you uploaded a picture of the cake. Is this a hobby you've been working on or are you a professional? You really are amazing. Have fun at the wedding, you deserve it. Hugsssss

So finally I'm sooooo eager to see your cake! And you really have a busy summer in 2009 right? As busy as a bee. What I wanna say is, take care of yourself, as to me, I also have a busy summer, since I failed my National Translator II Exam, I have to take part in the exam again in this November, now I'm preparing for it. These days I'm setting aside my time tutoring one girl who is going to enter High School, after August 10, I will take a 10-day annual vocation, but I still can't be relaxed, I have two girls to be tutored. Then in September I will start my part-time English teacher life, then I will have all my 7 days busy and busy, and busy...But of course I like this kind of life~~~Earn and enjoy a filled life. I believe you also find great joy from your busy life, right?
I hope you'll be back as soon as possible, I will miss you, DW.

How did you find time to take a breath? Our summer has been crazy too, we spent most of it traveling around and having fun, San Diego, camping, Disney Land, white water rafting, name it, we did it. Now we are moved to Houston, Texas, it was a 32 hour road trip in two days. I need a month off to rest.
