As the 2009-10 College Football season approaches, It is safe to say that there will still not be a playoffs this year or for years to come. But, that does not take away the excitement, passion, and the tradition of rival games away from the sport itself. All the controversy behind the BCS computer ranking system, the polls, and Conference Presidents, Chancellors, and Commissioners is the reason why there will never be a playoff, and it is not OK! One main reason that there will be no playoffs is because several conferences had bowl deals before the BCS was created in 1998, which tells me that most schools will prefer to have a bowl game at the end of the year regardless on how good or bad thier season may have been, as long as they win 6 games. The problem is the elite conferences may get thier 3rd through 6th place teams in a bowl game from automatic bids over a Non BCS conference 1st and 2nd place team. What's really funny is the Non BCS conferences schools have to be good over a span of 4 years before they can be considered to play in a BCS Bowl game, schools like Utah and Boise State. That's what I call friendship football at it's finest, but even I can't deny that there are conferences that are stronger than others. Like, the Big 12 and SEC will always be on top year in and year out, followed by the Big Ten, ACC, Pac-10. and Big East. Traditionally it has always been like that until certain schools change conferences. Like Miami, Virginia Tech, and Boston College all going to the ACC from the Big East. Regardless on how I feel about a playoff or not, I still love College football and will be a fan forever! Especially a Nebraska "Black Shirt" Cornhusker! Even though I think they will win the Big 12 north, Texas in my favorite to win the south region, the conference as well as the national title. It won't be easy because Oklahoma will be good too! In the SEC, Flordia will win the east region and Alabama will win the west. I'm not sure how Alabama's Quaterback will perform, so I'll pick Flordia to win the SEC. Georgia is good but they only care about strength of schedule and not wins. The margin of error is only one and thier schedule is too tough. In the Big Ten, Ohio State is the favorite but Penn State is not to far behind, the winner of that game will win the Big Ten so right now I'll take Ohio State. For the ACC, the traditional powers of Flordia State and Miami is still rebuilding, while Virginia Tech is on top of thier game. I think Boston College will win the Atlantic, and i'll take Georgia Tech over Virginia Tech for the Coastal region. So, i'm picking Georgia Tech to win the ACC, and to beat Georgia again this year in the battle of the Peach State! In the Pac-10, who else but USC. This is one conference that needs to step thier game up, because right now the Mountain West is better than the Pac-10 with the likes of Utah, TCU, and BYU. I'm picking Utah to win the Mountain West again and maybe the Rose Bowl too. For all the Non BCS Conferences, I'll take Ball State for the MAC, Tulsa for Conference USA, Boise State for the WAC, and Troy for the Sun Belt. The Big 12 won't be as exciting this year like it was last year, but I do believe Texas will get the nod to play in the title game this year. I look forward to see Nebraska and Georgia Tech to have 10 wins this season. I think Ohio State will be in the discussion for the national title game this year, as well as Flordia too. I'm looking forward to see Alabama have another great season, and I can't wait to see how sick my Georgia fans are this year once again. Don't get me wrong, I like Georgia, but as long as Mike Bobo is calling the plays, I don't like Georgia's chances to win a national title. But I will say if they get a more athletic quarterback, preferably black, then they will be competitive. As long as there is no playoffs to decide one true champion, the debate will go on forever as to who is the best team and who has the best program. So, I'll say Nebraska is my favorite team and we'll be back! FSU and Miami, sorry but Flordia has taken over! Michigan will be back in two years! ND, no comment. I never liked ND. USC needs to schedule better non conference opponents, and to the BCS, find a solution to the problems and get it fixed! So, I'll leave you with who is your favorite team? Why? And who will win the national title?
