I lost my grandfather a few years ago and I guess that's got to be one of the most heart breaking losses I ever had. There were regrets, of course. But you know, the pain goes away sooner than you think. You'll always have their memory to keep you company and that thought has always comforted me. :-)

I just lost my aunt this March. She was my best friend and my confidant and we used to talk and hang out about everything. She was always around when I was growing up, so we were really close, so it was a pretty huge loss for me. Not to mention that she was a wonderful person that everyone loved and could go to for advice.
I'm very sorry to hear that you lost your brother. It's very hard to lose family, especially if you're close to them. The pain of losing them never really goes away, but at least you've got all your memories and all the good times to remember them by! That's at least a little comforting, usually.

I thought I would die the day we lost our baby. It was a little over a year ago and it haunts me day in and day out. Nightmares most nights still occur. I have continued to live my life for my other children but that loss above all the others was the worst.

I agree with everyone. The loss is painful, but life goes on and I am thankful to have had them in my life. We have the memories, but the mentoring they gave me will last forever.
