Am I a bad friend?

This girl & I( let's call her Jane) we were friends for a long time now. Well, she always has some sort of drama going on in her life, she's always not talking to someone cuz they did something or she's fighting with them or something. Its always all about her...I get so sick of it that I have just stopped calling her. Sometimes we text & we get together when its someone's birthday or like at the holidays, but it just takes so much energy to be her friend. Rarely does she ask how things are going in my life & when she does I tell her things are fine cuz I am just not comfortable discussing personal stuff with her anymore...like I don't even want to be around her...she has pushed so many people out of her life & I don't want to be the next, but she's gotta tone it down cuz I really don't care that her aunt is dating a different guy every week & she doesn't like it...or else her sister-in-law came to town to visit & didn't go see her...(can you blame her??) I just can't stand it! I was with her yesterday I totally tuned her out cuz I was in no mood! I love Jane dearly, but how much more can I take before I just stop answering the phone or texts!!!

im not gonna lie i have a Bff and i am the jane in the situation ... and i just relized tht i was being this way she sad she stuck by me becuase she cared bout me if u give up on her wat kinda friend r u then ? tell her how u feel ..

I think everyone will have a friend like that or meet someone like your Jane at least once in their lifetime. IT really can't be helped, some people are just like that and those around them have to bear the brunt of their selfishness and self-centered attitudes. I also have a friend like that back in high school. We became friends since middle school so it's been a pretty long friendship so I can't just abandon her; however, she drives me crazy all the time. In the end, no one really wants to be her close friends and if they are, we don't want to tell her anything personal. There's always drama in her life and that's why, I read this book where they have the perfect quote for these people in our lives, "We can't help but love them but we don't have to like them" hahaha, I think it's same as your situation, you obviously love your friend like I did mine, but we both don't like our friend's personality. I just bared with it till high school ended and now we're both at different colleges. Still great friends but now I kind of get a reprieve from her constant drama yet still know that we're still friends. Maybe that's the solution? Friends at a distance. i'd say talk to her... after the talk she will ether stop acting that way, or you will be the next person to be pushed out of her life... ether way, if you can't stand the way she acts, ether choice will be for the best.
