Well I've started a story back in grade 7 with my friends and we kept moving the story between us for 4 years, each of us writing a little bit more. It came out more like a script with way too much comedy but we still liked it XD
Now I still have the story some 4 years later and decided I want to rewrite this. The original was nearly 350-400 pages written however I plan to make the revision almost entirely different from the original by changing the plot to be much more mature and action-oriented, how everything works etc etc... while possibly only keeping some character names and personalities. So far I believe it is coming along nicely and would love for people to read it, but I also want to have this published as a real novel.
Do you guys think I shouldn't post any of the story up and wait until I complete it before bringing it to a publisher?

I would love to read some of it. You can post exerpts here in a discussion, just remind us of what it is your doing. That way you can get really honest opinions of it. Do your friends know that you are doing this, and do they want to be part of it. Make sure you don't reap all the benefits of this unique story to yourself when it seems to be a joint effort.

Yeah I have already mentioned it to them however most of them really dont care about it. Honestly to me it was a big thing because it helped bring our friendship together in highschool. They dont want to have anything more to do with the story and the rewrite would be entirely my own anyways. So I guess they pretty much settled it for me.
Hmm maybe I could put in a few bits. I have a weird writing habit so my story right now is in two pieces. One is the beginning and another is somewhere half way in the middle where most of the action is so I'm not bored when I write it at work XD

I would read excerpts. I spent a small of time on a role playing website and enjoyed writing with someone else. It was fun not know which way the story was going to go.
I think that you should at least mention your friends in the book somewhere or something.
