When and why you skip or submit tags?
I guess one of the advantages of submitting a tag is the discussion it's easily shown after searches. Am I correct with this? Do you know what are the use of these tags?

I believe the tags do help in the search on mylot. Sometimes I tag discussions of others, sometimes I do not. Usually it is just a matter of time, as I often find myself in a hurry to finish leaving a comment and then turning over the computer to my lovely wife

When I start a discussion, I would type in the interests on the tag, but when responding, I would just skip, as I see already on tags enough interests, maybe typed by the starter, or earlier responders.

Normally I will skip the tags part while responding to discussions. If I feel that some tags are extremely important and they are already missing in the particular discussion I`ll put them. Tags are very much helpful in searches. So its the duty of the discussion starter to give exact and important tags because only he`ll be knowing exactly what the discussion is about ?

hi zearah! unfortunately i don't submit tags. even when i respond to discussions or make my own new discussions. i'm just too lazy to do it and i don't really find anything useful to it. i mean, i know it helps in searching for topics. but what i find odd is that when you respond to a discussion it always asks you also submit tags. what's up with that?

I only use the tags if I am creating a new discussion, that way people who are searching will easily find my discussion and I will get responses. It is important to use the tags if you create a discussion and it is a quesion that you want an answer to. If I am just posting a response to somene else's discussion I will just push the skip button since people will see it when they find the original post.

I try and find a word or two to describe the post to use for a tag as it seems that these tags will make it easier for the discussion to be found; at the very least it may give it a little more exposure. I thought of it in the same way as all the words I put on my website so that search engines can locate my site - the more words, the more chances someone will find my site while doing a search. I figure these tags work the same way, so why not take that extra second to label your discussion.

I do both since I don't know what this would do to a discussion.
