What's the Offside Rule ?

Could someone please explain, as concisely as possible, the Offside Rule in football (soccer). Whenever I listen to someone verbally explain it, it becomes very confusing, not only for me, but also the person trying to explain it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Let me give it a shot with my broken English. When the attacker of team A is the last person between the defender and the goalkeeper of team B, during the moment of the pass performed by someone of team A. http://www.offside-ref.co.uk/laws/11-offside-rule/offside-rule-trap-success.gif See? :)

But what if the person on team A is also between the defender and goalkeeper of team B when he made the pass ?

If I understand you correctly you mean that player A passes to someone when in offside position. That's impossible because when the player in offside interferes in play then he's called offside and a free kick is to be taken.

Hey GT, Well you just had to pick a subject I have no knowledge of. Hopefully someone will be able to help you out. Do you like soccer? I'm a fan of Pro Football. I also like baseball. But I wouldn't want to have to explain the rules to anyone. Well whatever the subject, it's really good to have you back. leenie
