Do you think Ross and Rachel really were on a break?

I am a big fan of the TV show 'Friends' and have never been able to resolve this on my own. On one hand, they were fighting and the end result of their argument was very unclear. On the other hand, they never actually said that they were broken up or "on a break". What do you think? Do you agree with Ross or Rachel?

I luuuuv friends. I'd have to side with Rachel. The did'nt officially "break up". He should have waited a lil longer before being with someone else. Being drunk is never a good excuse...lol

I'm not really sure I agree with either of them... I think somewhere along the line the plot was lost, maybe the writers couldn't think of something else new that would carry on the story satisfactorly...

I have to disagree. I just think that with six different characters and six different possibilities, there is so much more they wanted or could have done that left the ross and rachel thing open for discussion. it also became the central relationship of the whole series besides monica and chandler. and it worked, evidently, because they were able to stretch the ross and rachel thing for 7 years after that and was AT THAT TIME the longest running television series of all time, keep the audience guessing and caring about them for 7 years while still entertaining people with the other characters' stories.

I agree that Rachel has the right to get bad. Even if they were fighting and said to go on a break, they still had been lovers for awhile and been close friends for so long, he shouldn't just sleep with another girl once they fight. He should respect her a little more than that and have a little more confident in their relationship than to get jealous. ^~^ Happy that they got together in the end though

I think that was what Rachel said, right? A break. But to be fair, Ross was drunk. Frankly, I see this as nobody's fault. But what I do think is silly is the argument between them about the break thing. They should have accepted that a situation happened and if they like each other enough, they should overlook that. By the way, that long letter thing.. that was another silly thing. No fault of Rachel. It was the stupid plot.

Hello sneakerprince
I agree with Ross not that he should have cheated but Rachel did say they needed a break even though she felt bad after the fact she did say it, so Ross was able to use her words to justify his actions, things only got worse when Ross called and her Mark was their Ross always thought there was something going on even though there wasn't, so to answer your question Ross was in the right
