some of these names and avatars are just plain scarey

Have you hesitated on becoming someone's mylot friend, because the name they use is so darn scarey?...or their avatar is eerie? I know that sounds pretty stuffy, and I don't mean to be..however, I think there is alot to be said in a name. When I chose my name, I wanted it be something welcoming, something that would find me approachable by other mylotters, something that defines me in some way, something that I myself could relate to. But, some of the names of the friends request that I receive scare the heck out of me. EWWW! Unfortunately, that only makes me hesitate to accept their request until I know more about them. If their discussion is anything like their name or the avatar they use, I would rather stay away.
How and why did you choose the mylot name and avatar that you have? And have you ever felt like me?

Is mine scary? i mine it's just represent me and the place where i used to study. some are simply representing themselves, no scaring intended. I choose this name because it represents justice, peace and freedom to my alma matter. such symbol truly burdens me too to become a role model in this site.

LetranKnight...Actually yours isn't scarey at all. And the reason you picked it is very nice..I'm glad you explained it to me.

My username is a version of one of my nicknames. I am "psycho sarah" and my sister is "alishia insane".(we watch too many horror movies) My avatar is one of my favorite pictures I took of my eye...yeah...I have no explanation why I like taking pictures of my eyes. The people I add to my friend list are people who I either find very interesting overall or people who I seem to be replying to alot. I do not base it on names or avatars.

I think your avatar is cool. Eyes are the gate way to the soul and there is depth in them that people seldom appreciate.

I do like your picture...actually quite different, and it appears you have beautiful eyes. I'm not into horror movies, which is probably why I get a little creepy when I see some of the names and pictures on this site.

Thank you. I agree, I can tell alot about someone just by looking at their eyes.

Hey there!
Oh yes I know what you mean there LOL. For the most part if the name or pic scares me I will look futher into the person and all . My name is simple for the most part. I love the New York Mets and my nickname is chica I always wanted something cool and cute ya know!!! When I was in High school I went thur a phase and was TragicL .

I'm glad you didn't keep "TragicL"..."Metschica25" is so much more welcoming and warm to the community; The reason you picked that name, because of the New York Mets, makes sense. Which is why I question the reason someone would have such a evil sounding name, or provocative name and picture...There's got to be a reason behind it, and that's what so scarey about some of them. Why would someone reflect them selves so negatively?

Most avatars are welcome, but once in a while I find one that is not so friendly. When that happens I travel to the profile to see what is going on. Often it's a young person not understanding that they will be accepted just as they are, young.
But once in a while I will bale out of the relationship right then. Scary.

...Your name is most welcoming, but I would look twice at your avatar and wonder what you really mean by that. Just to get laughs, often comes off as doom and gloom to others...and it can turn people away. We have enough scarey things in the world, and the thought of a Serial Killer (even if you only mean Cereal Killer), is not going to attract me.

Name doesn't define a person's being. Maybe it's just a name.

When you are given a name by someone else, no it doesn't define a person's being. But when you do the choosing for yourself, it often does describe your character. Everything we choose in life defines our character.

I don't know about scary names. Mine was just the same screen name I use as a game site I belong too. I hate thinking up names really.
There are a few avatars that have turned me off. I think this is more of a family site and I don't agree with the pictures of people that are barely dressed or you see a discussion on children and the poster has a picture of them in their underwear. What kind of message is that really saying?

Yes, I agree with you...I don't know if they think they are going to attract more responders that way. But it turns me off, as stuffy as that sounds. I really don't mean to feel this way, but the first impression we get is their picture and name, so I would think that they would want to display something more welcoming to this community.

That wouldn't stop me at all. I have perhaps a bit of experience with the strange though.... I've been exposed to all types in my life. Punks, grunge, goth, preppy, young, old..... The thing that I have realized is appearance really has nothing to do with a person and who they are. It's just a personal choice. There are always those who would fit into the stereo type but they are far and few between. I think the same can be said for avatars and screen names. I knew a man with the nic name of Scabby, and he was the most gentle soul....

I always believed that appearance has nothing to do with a person and who they are, but you have to get passed the first impression first, before you can get to know someone. If a name or picture, or even someone's appearance, depicts something evil, It will just take longer to approach them.

No, your name is certainly not scarey. ..however, I can't get beyond looking at some provocative picture, or greeting someone with a name or picture that is quite gruesome. It gives me no welcoming feeling.

I just add them. I don't care what their avatar names are.
