Would you use MJ's pic as your avatar ?

The King of Pop is gone from our midst but he would be there in our heart as long as we are capable of breathing through. Now we have been ever respecting the departed soul but to my consternation I have noticed one fellow using the picture of Michael Jackson as his/her avatar. While we are in any discussion there is possibility of angry exchange and and foul mouthing and confrontation as well. Now it might not be MJ but we would be having MJ's picture arguing with and would it be worthwhile? Now my question is, should he use MJ's picture as avatar?

Sure I would. I think there are several reasons for the avatars that people chose. This person may be using it because they just like MJ, or because they want to show respect for the past MJ. And if it wasn't MJ it could be so many other pictures. Think of the children some use for theirs or animals. I think this is even worse than MJ in the scenario you speak of.

That is not how it would be intended. If people want to think that way, let them! We all have a right to our thoughts and feelings.

The person who is using the picture of MJ must be his die hard fan and he wants to keep him alive in his memories that is why he might have used his picture as an avatar. I think that we know and get familiar to a person more by his username rather than his avatar. If the person indulges in some heated exchange or some foul mouthing as you have said, then we remember him by his screen name rather than his avatar.Avatar is the mere representation of oneself and it may include his interests and likings .Some put pictures of animals,birds,flowers,3d animation but we cannot really judge the personality of that particular person only by his avatar.

I personally do not approve of this and would not use any celebrity's image for that matter. I haven't whatsoever. What you have said is justified and MJ is not relevant to all those blabbers, brawls and bitternesses tagged with the poster. However, having said this, the love and admiration of the person using MJ's image is understandable and i appreciate that.

Thanks Rajib. you are right. I avatar here has always been of this flower. I have changed the colour a couple of times though. And only on one occasion I changed it to my own on my friend's request. That's all that I can remember.

I don't know, maybe that person is an avid fan of MJ that is why they use it here as an avatar. But if you ask me if it is right or wrong, hhmmm it depends on your discretion. As for me, i don't like to use MJ's picture. I am not an avid fan too but I have nothing against the singer too. Anyway, this is a site that people are free to express their thoughts and views, so they also use that picture as an expression too i guess.

Would you use MJ's pic as your avatar? Hi there friend, I would use MJ's pic as my avatar because I like MJ. But if I didn't like him then I would not use his pic as my avatar. I cannot see why anybody would want to use the pic of a person they didn't like as their avatar. That is just crazy if you ask me. And all the arguments and bickering over MJ needs to stop. MJ will be missed very much and I'm sure that there were way more people that liked him versus those that didn't. Have a nice day and don't put too much thought into the matter my friend. Hopefully soon all the haters will just go away. Happy mylot.

I rather found weired when a fellow over here did use his picture as his avatar. Have a great Day. ( You have not commented on so many responses i made to your posts lol)

And this just got me into thinking.. can an avatar have copyright infringements? I know it's a queer question, but hey, I'm using Atkinson's face. I'm just responding to my avatar.

Hi Miloque, I do not think there is any. Or else what would happen to those who use mostly the celebrities as their avatar picture.

mj - Picture of the king of pop
I believe that person must be a great fan of MJ and his passing could have traumatized him and the only thing he thinks that keep MJ's memories alive is by using his pic as his avatar. I think everyone is free to use any kind of pictures as avatars. No harm done even to those who has expired.

Hi zands, Well, what I have started realizing is that the matter varies from culture to culture. Most Indian would not approve this as Mimpi has said. And neither I can refute you. Tell me what should I do now.

I would not use MJ's or any other ceeb's picture as my avatar but I guess everyone to his own taste. Your point about the types of discussion one might get into and how it may look having MJ's picture representing the person does make sense. I have seen other celebs being used such as House. I have no problem with it but your point is valid.

You clearly have your beliefs Rajiib and I respect them very much. You asked for opinions and mine is that if the MyLotter in question loved M.J. there is nothing wrong with having his picture on his avatar. I love cats so I have a picture of a cat on mine. I don’t think it matters very much what is on people’s avatars unless it is something distasteful and the King of Pop’s photo is far from that in my view.

Thanks Paula,. Yes you are partially right I am afraid if I am to give my opinion on your response. that is fine, a cat is cat and that surely represents you in another sense. But if an individual put the pic of the Pop king MJ is not there possibility that some might not like it for they would not like to refresh their wound? Its interesting anyway.

No, even though am a bit fan of MJ, never consider using his face as an avatar. i have my own way describing myself in my account and definitely not like dancer-singer like. the avatar is already here, it's a knight symbol good, freedom and justice...the rising knight.

I wouldn't personally because I was not a big fan of his. I didn't even know who he was until the Pepsi commercial fiasco years ago. My parents didn't let my sister and me listen to secular music at that time. Of course now I've heard all of his songs. I like a couple of them, and love the Thriller video of course. But I don't see what is wrong with someone else using MJ as their avatar. No matter if people think he really did molest those boys, nothing was proven. Therefore, one can't say he was a criminal. But I guess people's reasons for using him as an avatar vary.

Hi Ambie, This is not the issue over his character and merits and demerits it was a discussion how much does it suit any one to impersonate MJ? When the avatar is there would not it be like he participating in the discussion. Many would not feel at home with this.

I think we have a cult of celebrity that is out of control. People will probably use MJ's picture as their avatar for awhile, but the world has really become mentally unbalanced when it comes to celebrities, especially the U.S. MJ was very talented but when it comes right down to it, he didn't truly affect very many lives in real ways, didn't change their everyday circumstances, at least most people. So why the hysteria at his passing? I was briefly sad but no more than for any person struck down in the prime of life who was a total stranger to me.

Hi there, Great. Yes, a discussion is this. If we merely get carried out by the outer appearance and have never peeped into his real contribution to the general lives it would be like the high tide which would soon be followed by ebb and all normal again. very nicely aired.

No i will not use MJ`S picture on my avatar or anybody elses for that matter. With deep apologies to all MJ fans i was never fond of MJ or his music and was never interested in him at all.I only feel sad that this talented musician had to go through so many troubles and difficulties in his short life and instead of concentrating on his music he had got into all sort of controversies. I feel that he had wasted his life and could have contributed much more to the music world had he kept his focus only in his field. I ,personally do not think he is the greatest musician in the world, there are many more who are or were better than him.More than his music i feel that the aura he created around himself contributed to his fame and mystic. R.I.P.

You are right krajibg, i got a bit carried away. Well i can`t comment on this topic because that person must have loved MJ so much that he decided to make him his avatar. But if you were to ask me whether i would do such a thing i would say no. Because an avatar expresses my thoughts and my individuality or whatever and i would not like to put somebody`s image on it, say for example Mahatma Gandhi, as i respect him and would not wish to commercialize him.

Hello my friend krajibg Ji, I do not find anything wrong, till somebody has made it copy-right, even then if some fan wants to use, they may do. At myLot, we are restricted not to use certain words and warned as well at times, but we do find sopme ways to express either the same words or meaning. Further we are at liberty to discuss within four walls of rules. May god bless You and have a great time.

i would eventually use mj's face as an avatar but not right at the moment.. he passed away just recently so we need to respect that fact as a sign of respect to the departed.Eventually, he will be as iconic as elvis presley and marilyn monroe post-humously so his face will be used everywhere including avatar profile..

If there is no reason why MyLot will stop the use of this avatar, I will let it be. After all, you can see all kinds of pictures being used as avatars. If someone wants to use it, it is entirely his to do so. By using his avatar, it is just identifying the identy of the user and not the real person. Unless identity theft is the issue here, I would no discuss this matter any further.

hi grafuldove, know what? if everything is to run according to the rules life would be a heck, so to speak putting MJ's picture as avatar there is nothing nor it is a deal but when somebody would impersonate him would not it be sort of insult to him? However things here are relative and what you like might not be liked by me.
