This maybe a little personal but I'm a student so I have a part time job at a super market nearby. I live in a foreign country and because i don't speak the language, basically the only thing i can do is shelve products. It truly is a horrible job because my contract is until 9pm but sometimes we have to stay until 10pm without getting paid for that amount and the job itself is just unbearable. we stand around rip cardboard boxes to see what products we can shelve. ugh.. :P i don't get paid much for what i do either... i guess from this, i've learned that it really does take an effort to earn money and it isn't easy.
what about you guys? do you hate your jobs? haha (you're lucky if you don't)

Actually, I think you are lucky to have a job!!! I have been working a temporary job grading tests, but I have only been working maybe 10 hours a week. That is the best I have been able to come up with since returning from teaching in China last year!!! I would give anything to be able to get a job in a grocery store, although I would rather work the register. Where are you at? Have a great day!!!

haha thanks. i guess i am really lucky. to be honest, working at a grocery store is not for me because i always get hungry after seeing so much food! and then i stuff myself with food after i get home and well i gain weight:/
i would actually prefer the register but because of the language, i am stuck stacking shelves.
i live in the netherlands.

I glad you have more confidence now,so many friends care for you,you are so lucky, arent you?I worked in a foreign trade company, the wage is not very high, though I feel so tired with such heavy workload.Oppositely, some people seems like they have little task, but they make much more money than me.I always thought it is unfair before,I complained, jealous, but have no ieda.
Now I realised,I just jealous the others wages, but they have the ability to get it.If I have the choice to do the same job,but I couldnt do it well cause my bad ability.SO now,I try to improve, like my poor English, aslo,I start learning spanish,I know it is too hard, but if you do it by heart, you must can realize it.I believe ,what about you?

hmm i often think it's unfair too but i guess if you think of this way, things will be better: instead of saying that you don't have the ability, by working harder; you are learning so much more than the others. you are learning that it indeed is hard and takes effort to earn money and make a living. while the others are just doing whatever is easy for them and when something hard comes in their way, they won't be able to break through and not be crushed by that obstacle. but you will because you've trained yourself to become tough.
that's how i always try to think :)

I am a part-time college student and I also work part-time at a child daycare centre. I like both my job and my studies, but combined it can be a lot at some times. It can result in having little or no time for my boyfriend, family and pets. Let alone having hobbies or excersizing. It can be a pain in the behind trying to get a good balance between 'work and play'.
It sounds like you have on of those studentjobs that pay miserably and aren't fun either .Have you ever looked into doing something else? I saw you are from the Netherlands so if you are interested in something else, perhaps I can help you search the web for something that is more fun. Take care!

Im working in a call center here in the Philippines. Basically, we have 8 hour shift and 1 hour lunch in between, and we are above minimum wager, so thats a plus. The only thing we hate is the shifting of schedules especially if youre sched falls from 12am to 5am. But we do have hazard pays and transportation pays, thats also a plus. And ive been here for 5 years now with an annual pay increase. Its not that i love my job, its also what we call a thankless job..because we will be taking calls during shift, we get irate caller ranting about their service and we still help them with their internet connection and more often then not, we dont get ven a thank you for the help we gave them. But then, the fact that we get higher pay then any other minimum wage employee..we still stick around.

your job sounds pretty tough. it is always a plus to have an annual increase in salary. i do know that you mean. i guess it is extremely hard to just quit a job when you're actually getting paid better than the rest even if you really dislike the job.
people always tell me to do whatever i want and pursue my interests but i think in the end, it comes down to money no matter what. i love acting so let's say i decide to become an actor. but what about the money? what if i never get cast? i would be broke and look for an actual job to make a living. it is really tough.

It hard, right? I remember when I was a student I also has part time job and it teach me responsibility and appreciation. Take this advantage to learn the language, mix around, having more friends and more experiences. Once you gain confident, you can ask for other job. You know, everything happens for a reason and you need to treasure it, ok. Fighting.

yeah. i'm trying to stay really optimistic about this and appreciate all the things i'm learning right now from the experience. i am really lucky considering the fact that many people still don't get an opportunity like i do and i guess i'm spoiled? haha. i will try hard to be able to treasure this experience. i guess that's one other lesson i really need to learn.

aw thanks. if i think of it that way, i am really blessed to at least have a job in my hand. actually, i had been looking for a part time job for the past 2 years and couldn't find one because they would all reject me (not speaking the language) it was really hard and frustrating at first because if i were in my home country, i know i would have been able to get a job easily with better pay.
don't give up though! i never gave up and well i guess found a job (although i don't enjoy it much haha :P)

hello bohemian03,
No I don't hate my job. In fact I'm enjoying and happy doing it. Good for me for I landed in a job with my interest. It's related to what I've learned and graduated from college.
Don't worry, yours is just temporary. If your done with your studies, you can look for a better one if not best. For now, what you need is a lot of patience. Good luck to your studies.

I have worked with call centers here in the Philippines as well for 3 years now. I like the job because it pays well. Dont get me wrong cause I have hate it before because some irrate customers would really get up to the last drop of your patience. I tried some local jobs such as being a project manager and on-call consultant but I quit same reasons as to why you hate your job, to many overtimes that I am not being paid plus when I get home I would need to plan for more project and everyday is just killing everytime I have left for myself so I went back to call center even if I am on an entry level post in this industry I love it cause atleast I am paid well and every hr I am in the company I am paid. Why don't you try some language training so you can get better jobs that pays well or get a new job where you will love what your doing.

Hello bohemian this is checkmail and me too as being still a student have to work part-time for my extra expenses apart from my pocket money, which is usually sepnt for studies.I do work inbetween in Data Entry jobs both online as well as offline in offices, where we get some 0.15 bucks per entry, though the work is not limited, erors are not allowed so have to settle for less entry and less payments. Its mostly availabl in shifts, morning, afternoon , evening. It takes a lot of energy of mine and gets exhausted till its over, so take a break in between.

I am not working right now, but I'm looking for an internship in finance or business in general. Currently a student. With the economy as it is, working for free would be attractive to most businesses, and I would at least get experience which would help me with my resume for graduate school. I haven't had a job in a while either, as I have been a full-time student. But as I have less units I need to take, hopefully I can find something, paid or unpaid, to build my resume.

Sounds like you have a nice part time job. I am working full time for a Company which does trading internationally. I like the job because it also gives me the opportunity to travel to countries in different parts of the world, get to meet people of different nationalities and cultures. I learn a lot from travelling to those places.
Have a nice day !

I am presently working as a tactical medic of our City's SWAT unit. Likewise, I am an instructor on Emergency Care Courses. I used to work with the ambulance and rescue unit in our city before. I do enjoy my job. Its a little bit risky but it gives me the opportunity to save lives. On the instructor side, I also get the chance to teach people how to handle or provide care when they encounter an emergency situation which requires lifesaving care.

I work as a computer programmer in a local company in my country (Philippines). My work starts at 9am to 6pm. I really love my job, because I really love to program and to create software that can help other people to lessen their jobs.

Before I went abroad, I was a medical doctor. However, I accept any junior jobs as long as I am able to do it, such as fruit picking, waitress, etc.
