Definitely, reading helps a lot to gain knowledge. It helps pour more words to our brain compared to conversation and television. The way to learn new words is to encounter them through reading. The more you read, the more likely you get information. The more information you have, the more you try to to find a way out. It helps you to be more conversant making it least likely to experience social exclusion.

Yes, reading definitely increases one's vocabulary. Reading aloud will help even more, as that helps you to recognize the spoken word as well as the written word. Of course, for various reasons, you cannot read everything aloud. Try, whenever possible, to read some of each story or article out loud.

It is indeed true that reading generally increases ones vocabulary. It does depend on what you read though! Most magazines and digests will help increase vocabulary too. It really will help. I read things that are difficult for me sometimes, but I keep a dictionay in the other hand!!!

Yes you definitely should read more. It will increase your vocabulary (as long as you look up the words you don't know, in a dictionary.) It will increase your general knowledge too. You'll find after a while, that when you write English yourself, you will begin to know instinctively what looks right - or wrong...
When your English has improved more, you can lose yourself in a book - a good book will keep you up all night, just to keep you turning the pages to see what happens..! (The when it ends, you'll need more escapism so you'll have to find another book to read..!

Read is important to increase your knowledge of spoken words. Though, It is extremely important for you not only to read, but to write as much as you can. However, what will make your English to improve is your effort to correct your mistakes and the attention you put on spelling the words correctly.

Very much so. I think the reason I am so good at crossword puzzles and other word games is because I read so much. I am also a writer so reading helps me with my writing, and writing helps me with those games. Those games keep my mind sharp.

I definitely think that reading is excellent for your vocabulary. I fluent in both French and English and reading in both of these languages has helped me improve my vocabulary. It's definitely not perfect, but my vocabulary is definitely better than it was, than it used to be in my teens and childhood.
