I am eighteen and I have never had a cell phone. I am looking into buying one within the next week or so. I'm paying for it myself. I want Verizon and unlimited texting. I don't need any other special features. Here are a few questions I would like some help with: What would be the best plan for me? Does anyone have any tips to help me save money? After taxes how much do you think it would cost monthly? Thank you for any help!

Hey,
I don't really know which phone you should get, but you could have a look at the iPhone or a Nokia phone. Personally I like Nokia phones mostly, but also the iPhone is quite a good device also, with a huge range of applications. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

Call verizon and see if they have any special deals for new customers. Just a warning, with most new contracts, you HAVE a contract, that is you get a phone either free or extremely cheap but it is bundled with a 2 year contract, and if you miss paying your bill for 2-3 months or you want to cancel the contract, you have to pay a huge early termination fee.
I have TMobile so I don't know much in depth about Verizon, other than they are supposed to have a 10 free number type calling plan and of course Verizon to Verizon is always free too. I think these are the more expensive all inclusive plans though, or family plans. For a single line, it's probably upwards of $99 a month for all inclusive. I have no idea what their text unlimiteds run, likely it's around $19.99 or $24.99 for an unlimited data package.
If you don't do much voice calling and all you want is texting, it might be better for you to go with a contract-free prepaid type phone. Virgin Mobile is a good one, they have some new text friendly full keyboard phones (XTC and Helio are two of them) and they have an unlimited text plan for $20 a month. If you want minutes though, you'll have to add more money so you have airtime. The nice thing about these pre-paids if you text only is that's the total cost... $20 a month. There's no monthly fee other than that, no taxes, no contract. If you don't have the $20, you can skip a month and of course have no service, but you can get it turned right back on again and not have to pay any huge fees. I used to use this carrier and my son who texts a lot does. It's a relatively cheap way to get unlimited texting without chances for someone to rack up any bill or worry about overages or fees.

Since you are wanting to to with Verizon, then my suggestion would be to talk to them and find out what they can do for you. They have different plans, and by talking to them, you can tell them your situation, and they will come up with a plan that will fit you and your lifestyle. Not eeryone wants the internet on their phones as that is extra a month to have it, and not eeryone wants a camera or some of the other freatures that phones have. If you just want a simple phone, then i am sure they could help you figure out what is best for you. I have verizon as well, and I just bought an LG enVtouch which has a touch screen. I like the touch screen and it is hard to figure out sometimes. Well, I hope that you find the phone you are looking for. Happy mylotting.
