Wich Fish Are The Best?

My mom got me a small fishtank a few months back and I have yet to get fish.i don't want her to waste her money by me not using it.What are the cheepest fish? I think I'm just going to get Neon Tetras (sp?) but I'm not shure yet.Help!!

There is a lot more to taking care of fish than people think. You should go to a pet store, preferrably a non-chain store (not Petsmart, Petco, etc.) if you can because the people there have real pet knowledge. We have 2 fish tanks, a 20 gallon & a 50 gallon. You should start your fish tank off with "hardy" fish. We started ours with 2 black tetra, 2 serpae tetra & 2 zebra danio. They are all inexpensive fish, but nice to watch & somewhat colorful. Thanks.I do go to the non-chain petstores for my fish.The chain stores are all out of reach and the fish would most likely die by the time we got home.The non-chain one is walking distantce.It's where I got my cat and guinea pig.
