1 Clean out the closet. If you don't wear it or it doesn't fit it's time for it to go. Put it all in a big bag and donate it to the Salvation Army or hold a yard sale. If you aren't wearing it you don't need it taking up space. 2 Storage. Store items that you don't use regularly in the same place. For example if you have a shed or garage it's a great place to keep those holiday decorations until you need them again. 3 Have a place for everything. Sometimes the problem is you have things sitting around the house that don't really have anywhere to go. Even if you have to go out and buy some new furniture or storage containers make sure all your stuff has a place to call home. 4 Get rid off all that old junk. I'm defining junk as anything you don't need and doesn't hold a significant sentimental value. If it's just taking up space and you aren't using it it's time for it to go. 5 If you don't need it don't buy it. One way to help cut back clutter is to not create it in the first place. I know dozens of people who go out and buy things they will never use and they just take up space. Be honest with yourself when making a purchase. If you aren't 100 percent sure that you're going to use it, don't get it. 6 Empty out that junk drawer. Almost every home as one if not several drawers filled with random items. Take the time to go through this drawer and find a home for all of the scattered items. Now you have an empty drawer that can actually be of use! 7 Eliminate clutter magnets. Tops of bookshelves, coffee tables and counters all seem to attract the family clutter. Placing vases, collectibles or other decorations on them can help prevent family members from dropping off their clutter on it.

Well, that was a neat and helpful little post. I try so hard to stay organized but it is definitely a task. I am not sure clutter is my problem though. I think mine is the kids, dogs, and husband follow me around making a mess. Good tips though.

Well getting little containers for your kids to keep their toys in can help. I've seen people with boxes labeled for each type of toy: action figures, cars, dolls, etc. maybe that will work for you too.

It is easier to clean if my house is tidy. I have bought some toy boxes for my children. I have got a four week rotation system to keep my children's interest. I past any old toys to my local charity shop. I have got rid out all the clothes that don't fit me anymore or I don't like to wear. I was shocked when I read most people only wear 20% of their clothing on a regular basis. I am trying to work out getting a place for everything and then I can return things to where they are stored. I got an extra cabinet put in my kitchen. I have put a basket on my stairs and every week I move the things in that back to their home. I like your clean up that clutter suggestions.
