Are Twilight and The Host the same basic story?

My friend and I had a disagreement about Twilight and The Host. She says The Host is just Twilight but with aliens. She says the guy characters are the same and the female characters are the same. She also says it's the same idea with two guys and one girl except that in The Host they're able to solve that problem in the end when Wanderer gets and new body.
I think that even though there are some similarities I don't think they're the same exact story. I wanted to get some other people's opinions on this.

I don't think these stories are alike at all! I find them completely different. There may be some character similarities but that goes for all books. You can pick apart so many books and you will find similarities in them all. Same goes for movies. I really enjoyed the host. In the beginning, it took me a while to wrap my head around it because I just finished reading the twilight series and I found this book (The Host) completely different. I had twilight in my mind so I kept getting confused. LOL
However, the only similarities that I could find were that there was a love triangle (in many stories besides this and twilight), seclusion, and maybe some character traits. But, in my opinion, the stories were different enough to not categorize them together. Let me know, if you can, what your friend saw that was so much the same in these two books.....

Well she said that the love triangle was exactly the same. She said that Wanderer was the same person as Bella and her love interests were just like Edward and Jacob. She also says it's the same plot in the sense that she's joining a group that needs to hide from everyone else. I don't know I didn't think they were alike at all.

No, I don't think they're the same story.
But I do think they both have underlying messages of "Love conquers all," and whatnot. And I do think some of the characters are pretty similar to Twilight.
