Donating hair

I've never been patient long enough to let my hair get long enough to donate to locks of love, but my sister has done it several times. Each time that she does it, she has 10 inches cut off. They put your hair in a ponytail and cut right above the tie. Then from there they go ahead and style it. I don't know if this is true everywhere, but where we live there are several salons that will give you a free haircut and style, shaping, etc. When you donate your hair to Locks of Love. It's such a great foundation. There are so many children that are dealing with cancer and to be able to give them a full head of hair during their times of pain and medication is just awesome.

i know this is way old of a discussion but figured this was a good cause to bring up. yes i have donated some hair but it only amounted to about 3 inches and my husband shaved his head to donate it to the newest cause which is a place that is asking for donated human head hair, pet fur, feathers, nylons etc for the oil spill in the gulf that is happening.. i know lock's of love you have to have X amount of inches where this will take anything http://www.matteroftrust.org/programs/hairmatsinfo.html

My sister and I have done it. I forget how many inches it was. Our Aunt does it every year on the birthday of one of our relatives that pass away from cancer.

I have donated to Locks of Love. I went to get my hair cut one day and they let me know I could donate to the organization once I was there, so I went for it. I donated 12 inches. My head was a lot lighter after that! :)
