What happens when you die?

What do you truly think happens when your body ceases to work. Do you have a soul that ascends into some afterlife paradise? are you reincarnated into another organism, perhaps of this Earth? Your brain, which, as we understand it, is what gives us our cognitive abilities. But when we die, our brain shuts down, so how then is it possible to continue to be, when we have no vessel to belong into. Do we simply cease to exist?

Actually studies have shown that the self is not contained in the brain. All your thoughts and everything that makes you who you are is not contained there. The idea of the soul is that you don't need your body to continue to exist.

Where do these studies propose that the self is located, if not in the brain?

Hi, Phildozer!
I'm a firm believer in reincarnation. I've even undergone past-life regression and seen my previous life. That was helpful in understanding this life.
I believe we are reincarnated until we've fulfilled our best purposes, then on to Paradise.

It was fascinating and frightening. I could see that I didn't accomplish whatever I was created to do, so I had to come back. Strangely, I was in Russia in the winter, and it was so incredibly cold! I live in Miami, and I've never actually been all that cold. I was also a young man when I was killed in war, and now I'm an old woman. I was told I had a number of other lives, but, somehow, I wasn't all that interested. Once I was shown that reincarnation is real, that was enough.

Well always debates go on and on, in these topics. Personally I'm not in a position to believe wat I haven't seen. But I'm not trying to prove anyone wrong either.. For the time being lets believe in wat we see. We may end finding the correct conclusion some day back by scientific proofs. Lets wait and see!

some religions think that we have more lives, we just never remember our past lives one way of seeing how many you supposedly have is by the lines on your wrist according to mine I've had 2 and a half lives before this one. Do I believe in I don't know, there is no way of telling until we die, or in accordance to that theory there is no way of telling ever. so assuming there is no way to ever tell I have chose to not worry/think of it.
