I read some of these tips from Readers' Digest, so, I pretty believe these have been validated through studies. 1. No Breakfast People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level. This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration. 2. Overeating It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power. 3. Smoking It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease. 4. High Sugar consumption Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing Malnutrition and may interfere with brain development. 5. Air Pollution The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air Decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain Efficiency. 6. Sleep Deprivation Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the Death of brain cells. 7. Head covered while sleeping Sleeping with the head covered, increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and Decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to 8. Working your brain during illness Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of The brain as well as damage the brain. 9. Lacking in stimulating thoughts Thinking is the best way to train our brain, lacking in brain stimulation thoughts may Cause brain shrinkage. 10. Talking Rarely Intellectual conversations will promote the efficiency of the brain. What can you add to this list? Do you think you might be affected by some of these habits in your future life?

If you want to take it up with the webmaster of MyLot, be my guest. However, here's the profile of someone else who took me up on that challenge: http://www.mylot.com/rarsrajat

I accidentally hit send while was trying to get the MyLot guidelines ... It says so right here at: http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx Look at that area, "Now for the DON'Ts" & see the sixth item. It says to link to it, & not to copy & paste it. At the time the guy I mentioned got his profile deleted by MyLot was the time that MyLot also implemented that 500 postings before you get the privileges to copy & paste.

I'm not the woman who has to go into a challenge with a KrazyKlingon, too scary I mentioned now the source from where i got the informations, i'm sorry that i didn't mentioned in first place. Now it's up to the webmaster, if he lets the discussion in his system or if he will delete the discussion. Next time, i will write immediately the source (with date of publishing) of the printed article (but it was not mentioned in the Article... just page 31).

Sleep deprivation is a killer, I know because that is my experience on a daily basis! I would imagine stress can’t be good, not just for the brain but for the body in general. MyLot must be good for our brains surely. Most discussions such as this one as stimulating and exercise the old grey matter, some...Not so much!(lol) Interesting information, thanks for sharing it.

It's true the guy whose discussion got deleted copied it from me, just another title and at the end another question. In this case it's ok to delete his discussion, or not? Hi Lulu! Thanks for bringing some interesting facts about our habits. It is an eye-operner for all of us. I normally do not skip my breakfast, even if I am in hurry, whatever little bit is available and possible to gulp, I take it otherwise, I just go with a glass of milk. I sometimes indulge in over-eating when I find that dishes are of my liking, knowing fully well that excess of everythig is bad. I do not smoke. I also try to restrict my sugar intakes. Air pollution spread due to so many reasons and I've no control over it. I take adequate sleep. I love to talk with my colleagues and friends/relatives and it is diffiult for me to keep mum. Good Post!!!

Thanks for all these advices and tips. I find them very useful. I'm guilty of 2 things. No breakfast sometimes Sleep deprivation I'm trying hard to improve both of these as early as this year. I am sometimes not being able to sleep and I don't believe in medication as long as I could still take the 'pain' for instance. But this sleep thing and breakfast can sometimes depend on my mood. I can be very tired but not being able to sleep and I could have 8 hours straight sleep and could still sleep on after that. LOL.. I am weird indeed. Thanks for sharing.. ;)

Very good sharing. I agree last but not least is the Item 10 about rare talking. It will bring about mental stress, and lack of movement in aspiratory and digestion system. I cannot stand staying alone for too long. I hate losing my chatting friends.

Its pointless to search for a way to a healthy life. if you want healthy life go live in a mountain with few animals and making your own food. even if you sit at your bed you are still damaging your brain. mobile phones near you. even without mobile phone near you still hundred of waves pass inside you no matter what you do.

wow i think no breakfast and high sugar consumption will fit me in this case. i know that no breakf will be harmful but sometimes i just can not get up that early to make food. and high sugar consumption is a strange question to me as i always think the brain needs carbohydrate the best.

I don't know if you know this but our brain is evolving and growing till the age of 21. In fact it is at its best condition at the age of 20-22 years. After the age of 22, the brain starts deteriorating. There are many researchers who are trying to find solutions to slow that process and also some who are trying to improve our brain performance as we get older.

Hey lulunartin, thanks for the list, and there are a few things there I must address. I must not put my head under the covers, even in the winter coldness here in Melbourne. It's not a worry in Thailand where the nights are warm. However, the pollution there is far worse than here, so I guess one compensates the other. I'm not doing too bad, hmmm, maybe I should cut down a little on what I eat, and the chocolate and donuts might need to go, but other than those, I'm happy.

I think these are great examples of dangerous habits. I have recently been very aware of the effects of sugar. I'm not diabetic, or pre-diabetic, but there are so many reasons to cut down on sugar. Not that artifical sweeteners have a good reputation, but still...

The brain is just like any other organs in the body. If not used constantly, it will waste itself. We need to keep on learning and using our brains if we don't want to become dumb.

Thanks for sharing this. I think being around negative people should be added to this list. People who have different values and lifestyle. This can corrupt and should cause damage to the brain as well.
