Hi,i am not a native English speaker, and I wanna study in the US to seek for a PHd degree. I have tried my best to improve my English, including reading western newspapers, books, watching movies and listening to music. However, I feel the most difficult part for me is speaking, cause I am living in a small town and have few chances to talk with English-speakers. I am worried my pronunciation, maybe it's hard for others to understanding what i am talking about. So, can anyone here on mylot give me some advices to improve my speaking ability? Thank you very much.

You know what, the other day me and my friend were talking on the same issue. Even I myself ain't a native english speaker. Pronounciations can only be improved by seeing English movies or listening to English news or something that makes you hear english... The thing that we were discussing was fluency in English. And we came to the conclusion that we are fluent in our mother tongue only if because we think in our mother tongue. So thats it, if you wanna be fluent in any language, start thinking in that language. By thinking, I mean imagining and stuff like that... Wish you all the best with your PhD buddy. By the way, which subject ???
