Have you ever been totally shocked?

The biggest shock i had just happened last month while sitting in my living room. As i sat and was speaking to my son around 12 midnight we heard a loud noise, sounding like an impact of 2 cars or metal on metal. We ran outside to witness a minivan leaving our complex as i looked down my new(to me its new 2007 toyota corolla new from the assembly line)car had driver side damage from being hit by this minivan. First it was shock, then amazement then i was feeling anger. This person driving saw my son and i waving our hands asking them to come back and they sped off. Luckily my son saw someone in the minivan that he knew and we got the informtion on the unlicensed underage(15 yr old)driver. Of course the police were called immediately and it was through my sons aquaintance that we were able to get all the information needed to get insurance information on the other vehicle. The other vehicle was a rental and she called and apologized to me however she was also pleading for me not to have the police involved, too late they were heqvily involved due to this being a hit and run incident they were like a dog locked on a burglers arm on this case. Due to my placing the claim with of course my insurance comapany and also calling to see if they placed one with theres (which they did not) i placed the claim with there insurance comapny and also with the rental cars insurance company my car is fixed checks were cut quickly. Im sure if i would have let the insurance companies do there jobs i would still be waiting on the repairs and checks.Sometimes you just gotta step in to get things domne quickly i guess.
