I still say 'content is king' if you have interesting or informative information on your site or blog people will find it from search engines - that's where 99% of my traffic comes from, I really don't do a lot of promoting.

I completely agree with you. Even if you do a large amount of promoting, content is king to keeping your visitors. Once a visitor gets to your site, they will leave if they are not given a reason to stay. I have even read that a website has less than 30 seconds to impress a visitor or they will not stay.
I think a post on I Will Teach You To Be Rich (http://www.iwillteachyoutoberich.com) summed it up well. In the post, the author spoke about discussions about the best plugins, best website look, use of pictures, etc. He stated that content should be the first consideration. Outstanding content may even be able to overcome some site flaws.

Yep pictures can paint a thousand words but words are what will be typed into search engines and if you don't have them on your site those seekers won't find you except by accident.

Hello vijayanths,
I usually use forums and other sites to help me generate interest on my blog, however I must say I am very successful. However I decide to provide a space for people to showcase their blog or website.
you can try it for yourself, http://profitsbuzz.com/forum/show-case/

Hi Vijay...some of the things that have worked for me:
Join and list your site on Blog Catalog
Join and announce your posts on Twitter and Facebook or Myspace
The best thing of all: read and comment on many blogs of others who write on similar things as you do. People often reciprocate.
